Are Good Abs Purely Genetic?

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I bet you have a friend that seems toeat nothing but KFC, Domino’s Pizza and Mc Donalds. Yet, when they take thier shirt off they still have that killer six pack you.ve been spending 2 hours a day in the gym trying to obtain.

My question is, are good ab’s genetic or is it possible to achieve six pack success without the help of your DNA? After reading and article here on bodybuilding.com about uncovering the abs (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/anthonyl2.htm), it seemed like he was suggesting great ab’s are often genitic, he also goes onto say that most of the great ab’s you see in mags and on TV are not in that shape day in and day out, this is only achieved by extreme tapering of the diet.

I dont know if I agree with this though as sprinters, football players and other athletes display great abs all year round (perhaps there is an argument here about elite athletes and genetics - nature vs nuture).

I guess the only thing to do is eat, live, train, sleep like an elite athlete, if you want to look like an elite athlete.

Can You Push Your Chest To the Max Without a Spotter

Friday, March 13th, 2009

In the words of Mr T

"I eat alone, I train alone, I win the title alone"

Or something to that effect anyway! I was training my chest today and I mainly train in my home gym and therefore do a lot of my training on my own. I do bench but there is only so much you can do before you need those cheat sets to really get maximum growth.

Like I find it easy to develop my arms when I can do single arm exercises and offer a bit of help when needed. Whats your opinion, should I just try and go really heavy with dumbells?

I would like a decent partner to train with but I find most people a distraction in the gym?

Whats your thoughts? Big Chest

Getting Friends and Family to Understand Your ‘Weird’ Eating Habits

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

If your new to the world of bodybuilding or fitness it is likely that it’s going to require some changes in the way you eat your meals, what you eat and how you eat. These abrupt changes can be difficult for loved ones to understand, often asking or wondering wgy you no longer want to the eat the foods you used to.

The best thing to do is to sit them down and explain your goals, partucularly if you are unhappy with your current shape of fitness levels, once you explain this they are more than likely to get onboard with what you are trying to do and help you out.

This can be especially true when you take your first baby steps into the world of supplementation where concerned mothers/ wives/husbands think that next thing your going to be in the bathroom shooting steriods into your arm with a used needle!

Its a shame that people have that perception, the best thing is to explain how popular supplement use is, explain what you are taking and why, and, if need be drag them along to your local health food store to show supplements are all above board, perfectly legal and not something you bought from the boot of some guys car at your gym!

How To Avoid The Pit Falls of Home Cooking!

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Yummy LasagneSo I am one day into my Mission to get Killer abs and all I can smell wafting through the house was a hot lasagne cooking in the oven. Now normally I would tell myself ‘ah its ok, it wont hurt’ but this time I am much more determined to get those abs so I walked on by and hit the Gym instead.

After training I had some chicken and rice. I just figured all that cheese and fatty mince is not the best way to start a new ab program. Guess i’ll just have to wait until may 2nd ;-)
