Blog Entry

Again, I am another two pounds lighter, however I dont feel that my body has slowed a bit. Today I began my cardio agin but only 5 mins walking up and down the stairs. I will access over the weekend if my weight will begin to drop off again to determine whether to increase cardio of leave it a 5mins for the time being.

    Hey man,

    You’ve written awesome guide.

I just started the 12 week challenge. I’m using almost all of the information from your guide. The thing is in your guide you say cardio every day.
    Now I have 2 questions:
    1. On weight training days (mon, wed, fri), I do 20 min low intensity cardio immediately after weight training. On non-weight training days I do 20 min HIT cardio. Is doing cardio on weight training days OK?
    2. I drink 2 protein shakes every day. Is drinking 2 shakes on non-weight training days ok? Or should I drink protein shakes only on weight training days?

    cheers

    Hi Anton,

Im glad you like the guide!

No problems with drinking protein shakes on non training days and the cardio is also good on all days.

    Good luck,
    Kris

    Hey Kris,

    Hows the working out?

I’m confused about the fat burning zone when doing cardio. Some say its between 100 and 140 bpm. However other say 75% of (220-age).

I’m 20 and if I calculte it according to the second formula its 150 bmp.

What is the right method to calculate a fat burning zone?

Another thing. If I’m not doing cardio first thing in the morning (I’ve had a couple of meals) and If I’m on the treadmill, should I reach my fat burning zone with fast cardio like 9 km/h or slow cardio like 6 km/h. I’m asking this because some say that going fast will burn carbs instead of fat. And in order to burn fat instead of carbs you have to go slow and after 10-15 minutes you’ll start burning the fat.

cheers and keep up the good work

ps. When I write "some say this and that…" I mean the trainers and articles at bodybuilding.com :)

I think around 6km/h on thr treadmill is good. Remember, I dont use cardio as direct fat burning, I use and recommend it as a tool to help metabolise calories, thus burning fat indirectly.
