Feels like I got punched in the tailbone!!!

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

OK, so we did some pretty intense heavy squats, sissy squats and romanian deadlifts this past monday….and yesterday morning, I was just fine - no problems…until like 12pm…then my lower back was alittle tender. Last night….no problems. But then right before bedtime, my lower back and tailbone area were sore as hell and then this morning, it straight-up feels like someone punched me right in the ass-bone!!! OUCH!!!

Luckily, todays likft is chest, shoulders, back, traps - but damn….I think I’ll have us do all SITTING DOWN exercises! LOL!!!

On tonights plate: Dumbbell bench, decline flyes, tri-super set dumbbell shoulder raises, single arm row, wide-grip chins, shrugs….WOOHOOO!

Thursday: Boxing drills, burpees and the good ole medicine ball warmup. :)

Feeling stronger….maxes coming up

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

A couple of new items to talk about - first, we’ve got a new partner joining out workout - which breaks the peak days up to 5 people! Damn! I’m gonna have to start charging home-gym memberships!! LOL! I have a six person that might show up for the boxing and fight technique stuff, which will be lots of fun - I’ll try to get some pictures of those nights to update in the gallery as well as my progress pics.

Speaking of progress: last night’s lift went great….so great, that I hit a new personal best on squats for reps - 245×8, 245×8, 245×15. Obviously, my squat numbers have gone up - so I’m curious as to my new max on that. I also hit a new max on Romanian deadlift and close-grip bench. Close grip bench was a killer lift with my working sets being 135×10, 155×8, 155×11 - which is pretty darn good for me.

So, in the next couple of weeks, I’ll be prepping the new guys with the basic lifts and strengthening their joints and tendons (to be able to handle the heavy lifting that awaits us). I’m really eager to get to the max week, becuz judging by my performance in the last few weeks, I think we’ll be seeing some new numbers!! Woohoo!

Body Tat!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Ok, so my friend Damon rolled over last night so we could discuss the tattoo design I had come up with. We discussed supplies, price and then I printed off the design and we measured my left side to get down how big everything is going to be - I’m pretty pumped about it - so we might just start this thing inside of a week! Wooho!! here’s an enlarged sketch of how it will look.

Can’t wait!!! Of course, I’ll most likely have to take a week off of lifting while I heal up for each section that we do…that’s the only part that will suck.

KASR: 1 , Krispy Kreme: 0!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

So I walk into work today feeling pretty good - got my protein shake in this morning and waiting for the hour to roll around, so I can hit my morning meal. Then one of the catalog people whip around and says: "We have a TON of food over in our area for our catalog party - go get some breakfast!"

So I figure, what the hell, I’ll go give it a look - single servings of breakfast cereal (all sugary kind), bagels, blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, granola, fresh yogurt….and (GASP!) Krispy Kreme donuts!! Oh dear Lord, make me strong….8 seconds in the microwave and they melt like BUTTAH!!!!

I have to atleast take a look at one, right??? So I peek inside the box…..oh glorious donut….how I love thee! LOL!!

I close the lid and walk away….go wash my hands (yea, I’m one of those people who has to wash their hands eveytime they eat…) and I came back - grab a cup and fill it full of granola - then top that off with some of the fresh parfait yogurt…and top THAT off with some fresh blueberries and walk away feeling better about myself already.

Was it worth it?

Hell yea.

Amped, ramped and motivated!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I just can’t explain how motivated I feel - stepped on the scale this morning and I’ve lost another 3-4lbs (hopefully in water and fat!!!) then took my body fat measurements from the scale - read 9%….got to work and used the accumeasure…it ready 15%. ok, so I’ll split the difference and call it 13%….which means I’ve dropped some more body fat! WOOHOOO!!!

I’ve been getting ultra-strict on the diet. After my workout, I drink my post-workout shake - showered and then sat down to dinner…..the wife made chicken lasagne. Darn! Too much paste (carbs) I picked the chicken out and ate it first. Then I grabbed a can of cubed chicken - dumped it into the lasagne and then picked it back out and ate it (gave it a lasange’y taste!) Then I throw all the pasta away….I’m sticking to it, dammit! Cut down the carbs and sugar after 2-3pm and ramp up on the protein intake! After I dumped the pasta out, she made me a boiled egg (by request), so i ate that.

THEN SHE PULLED FRESH PEANUT BUTTER CUP AND CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES OUT OF THE OVEN!!! ARRRRRRGGGGHHH!!! What is she trying to do to me?!?!?

But you know what? I didn’t eat a single damn one. I didn’t touch one - I didn’t even pick off piece…not a crumb. I just walked away and it was just fine with me!

My late night snack was spoonful of peanut butter and it tasted just fine to me!
I can do this, I can do this, I can do this!!!!

That’s it!!!! :( body fat is getting obliterated!!!!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

So I was cruising the main page and noticed XNick EdgeX’s pic in the most popular guys - but more specifically, I noticed his cool ass tattoo! I have a concept for a half body tattoo that i am hopefully going to have done soon - so I jumped over to his page to check out the tat and then of course, can’t help but notice the impressive physique. So everytime that I look at someone’s profile pics I take a look at their body stats - that way everything is put into perspective.

What the hell!!! Nick’s body structural seems very, very similiar to my own. Check out:

NICK’s:

Height: Waist:
Weight:
Thighs:
Bodyfat: Calves:
Chest:
Forearms:
Arms:
Shoulders:
Hips:
Neck:

And then mine:

Height: Waist:
Weight:
Thighs:
Bodyfat:
Calves:
Chest:
Forearms:
Arms:
Shoulders:
Hips:
Neck:

So aside from some minor inches here and there - you’ll notice that the huge difference (besides waist size….daaaaamit) is in the BODY FAT content! So if a measley 10% body fat is the difference between looking like this:

Bicep Flex

to looking ripped like this:

ABS-BandW

Well, guess which one I’m gonna pick! So it’s on - I’m revitalized and good to go and I’m going to refocus in EVERY areas - but most importantly, I’m back to a strict as hell diet with updated pics to come!

HELL YES.

EDIT::: SceaM makes a good observation, which I know - but didn’t point out. Genetics and body makeup certainly play into how one will eventually look. while I know I won’t look just like Nick - the similarities are enough to get me serious about attacking my body fat content with renewed vigor.

When it rains, it pours!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Woohoo! I knew C.J. couldn’t stay away from the gym! I gots me a training partner again! :)

Which really helped yesterday, as I hit a new working max (through set) on my incline bench and was able to get alot of motivation to knock out some heavy lifting on Chest, Shoulders and Back! Even better news is that C.J.’s brothers are interested in lifting with us - Nick showed up yesterday and Ryan will be there on wednesday and thursady - I’m loving it!

So for this week, we’ll have the two-day split with a third day working on plyo’s and cardio.

I’m still debating on doing the 4-day double up - which would have me lifting on Sunday/Monday and then Wednesday/Thursday. I think the potential to experience some growth on that workout is definitely there - I just need to do it! LOL!

In supplement news, I’m almost out of Cytocell and Cytonox - which means, I’m back on the NOXplode and Kre-Alkylyn. I’m still dosing with the mega-vitamin, fish oil, and protein powder. A new addition as of yesterday was MHP’s T-Bomb II (GNC wasn’t carrying Animal Stak II, which kinda sucks - but after reading the label on T-Bomb, I think I’ll be happy with it) Like I’ve mentioned in the past, I think the HGH mgiht be one of the missing links for me in passing this peak I’ve hit. I’m also considering on bumping my creatine uptake to 5mg, based on a supplement log I read over on SuperMaine’s page.

On the nutritional side of things, my wife is helping me cut carb intake latter in the day based on a great article I read. So from morning till about 2pm, I have a nice carb/protein balance - but then after that, I cut carbs down dramatically and ramp up on protein rich items. For example, in the morning: Protein shake mixed with banana and some bagel/toast. Protein snack and shake throughout the day. Lunch time: I had california maki rolls - which had a healthy dose of rice with the fish and fish eggs. I also down some kimchee and cooked chicken bites. Then no more carbs till dinner, where I had two baked salmon filets with steamed carrots in a honey sauce. yum! (and of course cottage cheese before bedtime).

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve felt re-energized….I guess it was just nice to have some extra motivation in the home gym. Glad to have my partner(s) back!

No training partner, spotty schedule…discouraged?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

HELL NO! I hit the weight hard last night and finished feeling pretty darn good about it! Next week, I’m putting together a 4-day training split where I double up muscle groups in one week - I can’t wait!

Thursday falls through, but Saturday improves…

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Ok, so I didn’t get to do any boxing drills with my 12 year old - by the time I got home, he was settled in and I was just content to relax. So Saturday the weather was ideal for alot of outside play time where I got around to finally fixing the brakes on my 18-speed mountain bike. Well, my 7-year old daughter comes outside and sees me doing that - and not 5 minutes later, she rolls back up with her helmet on head and bike in hand "Daddy, will you ride bikes with me?"

Who could say no to that? So while the boys are blowing each other with nerf guns, baby is swinging in her swing and Jamie is doing some flower bed maintenence, I take my second youngest out for a bike ride. We covered about 3-4 miles and stopped by an old house we used to live in - hiked it up a few hills (she had to take one break) and then coasted down several others. All in all, a good time. With the weather improving, it’ll be nice to strengthen the legs up with some bicycling - atleast it’ll give the knees a rest from jogging/running.

It’s 30 degrees today and I’m down with a odd cold/sore throat. Hopefully, it’ll work itself out over the course of the day, so I can hit the home gym tonight. I’ve also been reading about HGH products and have a newly discovered interest in Animal Stack (or like products). If I begin a stack of that, I’ll be sure to track the progress.

Diet is pretty loose right now - I’m filling my days with empty calories (read: soda), but aside from that, the overall diet is still intact. Still keeping a high profile medium carb diet - one thing I have noticed, is that I am trimming down in the soft areas that I needed to - I’ve been bouncing back in forth on getting serious - perhaps the HGH will help there.

My friend Eric came over this weekend and saw the 225lb stacked on the barbell - he asked in surprise: "You doing that now?" I answered: "Well, after some working sets, I can push it out about twice before I start crying like a girl" LOL.

(He’s a bigger dude, 6′4" mesomorph that’s let his fitness go - but claims he used to push it out back in the day - I believe him.) So he sits in the bench and pushed out two reps on cold arms - he had some issues getting the reps out but he did em (I thought he would). So he loads the bar up with 315lb - he is able to lift off, but when he starts to bring it down - it drops straight down to his chest and doesn’t come back up. Me and my friend Gary have to bring the bar back into position.

With that, he states: "Ok…that’s motivation. Here in a couple weeks, I’m gonna start showing up on Mondays."

So possibly a new workout partner - AND - C.J. may be back if he aces a certification - so good news all around.

Thursday plan

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Yesterday I had an uninspiring, yet intense workout (personal best on romanian deadlifts: 3×225lb@10reps), so today it’s going to be bagwork and plyo with my 12year old son - will prolly show him the 8-basic punches and some easy punch combinations as well as work on power striking. Follow up with some burpees and maybe some vertical jumps…I almost feel sorry for him. HAHAHAHA!

But in reality, I’ve been meaning to re-dedicate myself to my bagwork - particular in the power area - my joints are acting alittle "wussified" so I’ve got to harden back up. I usually have two hooks that could do some real damage and I’d like to get that brick-bat back, if you know what I mean! :)

Try saying that 7 times really fast: "Brick-bat Back…."
