Not warming up leaves you chilled to the BONE

Pull and Holds

So it went down like this….
18" DL
WU 135×12
225×8
(here is where I went ****ing wrong)
Normally I would do 285 and then 315 and then see what I could handle..well I had my son with me and a friend was talking to me so I loaded
315-miss WHAT!?!?!?! OK no really WHAT?Huh
315 again missed…OK PISS OFF!!
I walked away, walked around…came back and STILL COULD NOT LIFT IT!!

I honestly had no idea why and was feeling pretty violent…I wanted to throw the cage and kick the plates around…instead I went to do lat pull downs and contemplate why I missed a friggen puny  candy girl 315…

Lat Pull Down

120×1 held for 60 seconds mid return
120×8
120×1 held tight to me for 45 seconds and s-l-o-w-l-y returned it to the top. I took about 20 seconds on the negative and it made me shake and sweat and feel dizzy. I therefore now deem this my Mr G hold. (in dedication to my Mr G)

Ok these holds make all the difference for me in this. However I need to work on pulls and holds I thought it would be applicable come June. Of course I am partially insane so this could be a waste of time as well.

My hands are bruised….

driving home I was thinking about that damn 315 miss. I called Mr G on the phone to complain and he asked me the golden question. "Were you warmed up enough."
Ok no. I want to go back and do it right..and I cannot.
*shaking fist* I will see you next week 365….315 will not keep you safe forever!!!!

My training for Granite State Strength roughly outined

ok the events will be
1. Yoke Press for reps they estimate the weight for chicks will be 100#

This is a yoke. The weight of the apparatus plus plates will be 100 pounds. I will walk up to it and the bar will be roughly chest height. I have to get under it and press up for reps. I will have 70 seconds. I will be using military press and I am going to try and see if I can figure out something else to use for a fatter grip since the yoke is FAT. Also I want to see if I can do the oly bar and chains with sand bags at the bottom for at home training for the yoke.

2.Crucifix Hold Crucifix Hold: A timed event. Handles will be attached by chain to 2 empty kegs one in each hand and athlete will hold for max.

Ok totally kidding LOL

They list the weight for the masters LW to be 30# kegs. So, mine will be less. I think I will set up the chains and sand bags for this as well. Perhaps look the chains over the cage at mid level and work with it like that.

3. Tire flip 450#
I will either look for a 450# tire or work with 4 smaller ones and the car itself

Ok kidding again, no one will let me flip their car. I will work with this article and the band work it suggests. I dunno..since I do not own bands.

4. 18″ DL weight to be announced. No idea what TBD means…could mean “total bile disturbed’ or something.
Anyway it says …The Bar will be in front and the athlete will face away from the apparatus.  60 second time limit.
So the bar is behind me? Also it says you can wear suits…I do not own a stinking suit and I know the difference between suited and raw can be significant….anyone have an old suit they want to donate to a good cause?
How I will train for this is…DL, DL and DL.

5. Truck Pull
No weight announced yet. I have no harness and am not sure how to even go about training for this one yet…I have 8 weeks to figure it out!

OK! Today I did a lot of stuff LOL DB cleans, presses etc blah blah

I was tired, sweaty, tired, heart rate up, tired, and hungry when done!

I cannot even begin to express the agony of my piriformis right now….I think I have to stop all  types of squatting….screw that…I think I need to buy more advil.
