Information on supplements…********!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I wanted to post a blog for people who are curious about trying some supplements out and using them AROUND a healthy diet and good training routine. Do not rely on only supplements, you will be wasting time and money. I currently do spokes model work for Cellucor. You guys I am sure have seen or heard about them on this site. They are catching a great buzz and rightfully so. I usually dont help push any supplements that dont work or I have never tried. I received a bunch of samples and gave them to gym friends and others to do a trial run. Nothing but great feed back. This was from different ages, men and women, activity level, goals, whatever. They work great! You can visit www.Cellucor.com and check out there products. If you want to order call 866-927-9686 and ask for Steve! Use promo code MU0815 to save 10% on your order. If you want to hit someone up on bodyspace with more info go check out MikeCellucor’s page. Hes the man with the plan that can make you understand! You like that? I did:-) Good luck!

When I do my cardio and why…..

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I get a lot of questions about cardio. A lot of people, especially the fellas, are afraid of doing too much and burning off muscle. I will give you a quick run through of what I do and why. I start off when I get to the gym by jumping on one of the stationery bikes and warm up for 5 minutes. Nothing quick or intense, just a nice, light stroll through the woods, city, hills, wherever you want…its a bike that isnt moving, you half to imagine somewhere, right?! Then I go into my weight lifting for about 1 1/2 hours. Within 10 minutes of the end of weight lifting I eat a little protein bar to get some needed protein in me and jump right on the treadmill or EFX/elliptical machine for 15-20 minutes of moderate-high intensity cardio. My heart rate with be between 140-160, which is where I want it. Now, why do I do this? Heres why….

Your heart rate needs to be at a certain point for a certain time before your body gets into its fat burning mode…I believe, correct me if I am wrong, it has to be at 70% of your MHR (maximum heart rate) for 10 minutes before it starts burning fat. I have always gone by this rule and it has worked for me. While lifting your heart rate goes up, especially when you do what I do, which is superset everything. So when I am done lifting, I take in some much needed protein to help slow down or prevent the catabolic  stage my body wants to go into when doing cardio….Since my heart rate has been up for the last hour and a half from lifting (which as you see is way longer than the 10 minutes required to get into a fat burning mode), I know most of the time I am rocking out the cardio, my body is burning just fat! Its a science guys…but it works!

Back to the grind tomorrow…

Had a good weekend. Did the kept my carbs low this week 6 days instead of the usual 5. I can tell a difference. Today was my high carb day and had a little cheat meal….(Thin crust steak pizza with butter  garlic crust….yum!)  Looking forward to the week. Will try to keep up as much as possible with everyone. I might be flying out to NYC. My agent has to call me though. You guys keep it going!

“Players” Book that I made the cover on….

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

I did a test shoot for Rick Day in NYC (actually my first ever) about a year and a half ago. Out of those photos one of them made the cover of a book he put together entitled "Players". It is a book that aims towards your high end male fashion models. It comes out in May. I believe you can go to Amazon or any other merchant site and look it up under "books". I am proud of this accomplishment due to the fact that I want to work between fashion and fitness modeling and so far so good;-)

New photos are here…

Meal#1 instant oatmeal, banana, scoop whey protein, multivitamin

*workout*

Meal#2/Postworkout scoop of whey protein, banana, 6 egg whites with bacon bits, slice of bread with little bit of peanut butter

Meal#3 can of tuna w/low sodium barbecue sauce, 7-8 whole wheat townhouse crackers, can of diet cherry 7up

Meal#4 Chicken breast, broccoli, cup of unsalted peanuts and dried cranberries

Meal#5 Chicken breast

Meal#6 Cottage cheese, unsalted peanuts, scoop of whey

I just focus on upping my carbs and keeping protein down since I dont train these days. I up my carbs to about 2.5 carbs per body pound. These are also the days where I have my cheat meals..1 per day.

What keeps you going?

I would like to hear from all you bodyspacers out there, what keeps you motivated? Those days when you dont feel like sticking to the diet, hitting the gym, whatever, what keeps you going? I love hearing others stories.

Keepin it real!!!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

I go to the gym everyday with the mindset of making sure I push myself so I know when I leave I have done a good workout. No slacking, no excuses. I try to keep it real with myself FIRST, others second. I see so many people who go their to show off, talk, or just think "showing up" will make them see results. I hear, "I go to the gym everyday!" I say, what did you do at the gym? And I never so "I went to the gym." I say, "I went and worked out!" Remember, you got to feel a little bit of pain, drip some sweat, rub some aches, to get where YOU want to be….Its hard, but thats what makes it great!
