Yesterday was another 3 workout day. Yoga class in the morning for p90x, Cardio Power & Resistence in the afternoon for Insanity. I had just finished the ten minute + "warm up" for Insanity when a woman said "Wow, what a workout".. I laughed and said, "That was the warm up for the workout". Followed Insanity with the Fitness and Toning class I co-teach.
This morning was the Plyo Cardio Circuit. Tonight will be Kenpo Cardio Plus. Tomorrow is Insanity Recovery day. Last week I sampled one of the Max Cardio DVDs instead. I will likely do that again.

Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs followed by Core Synergistics this afternoon. I think I am really going to like this final recovery week. I am formulating my plan for a hybrid p90x/p90xplus/Insanity round to start next.

The second most asked question I get is "How do I stay so motivated to workout and eat right day after day." I do wonder how much is motivation and how much is my personality which is slightly "driven". I look into the mirror each morning focusing on what I like (Shoulders, Traps, Arms) and what needs work (abs, quads). On feel fat days (ladies know what I mean) I want to do more abs and cardio. On great arm days I want to make them bigger. On ugly thigh days I want to leg press, squat, and work my legs until I can’t walk.
My answer is usually something along the lines of: I want good health and a sculpted body more than I want sodas, sweets, and high fat foods. I don’t see my goal as a destination but a journey. Each day is a chance to get a little better. Why would I pass that opportunity up?
I honestly don’t know where the motivation ends and the personality begins. I guess it really doesn’t really matter. I’ve been at this for nearly two years and I have taken a three week break due to surgery, a one week break due to a broken rib, a ten day break when I was on a sailboat and couldn’t work out, and a few random days here and there where life just got in the way.
In case you are wondering the number one question being "How do I get rid of all the fat on my stomach" My short answer is exercise and most important control what you put in your mouth. What they are really asking is How can I have a flat stomach without doing any thing….

Turning 48 today was far less "painful" than I expected. I was inundated with birthday wishes and calls which made the day very special. I did get the iPhone armband I wanted but a big surprise was an extra gift of more dumbbells! (Secretly, I think my husband likes the fact that shopping for me has become quite easy….pull up bar, dumbbells, etc.)

The last day of the last lifting phase of my third round of P90X. Legs and Back. I pushed and upped all my pull ups achieving 7 unassisted followed by 20 with chair assist on one set. A new record for me. I couldn’t do a single one when I started January 1st. The final week of phase three is cardio/core which will be a chance to lower that bf a little more.
Insanity week four returns next week. I have to say I kept up the intensity and calorie burn with the aerobic routine I came up with for the classes I taught this week. I did enjoy the extra 45 minute sleep in this week but it is back to the 6am workouts Monday.

When I turned 30 I cried. When I turned 40 I pretty much ignored it. At 45 I hated the way I felt and looked but didn’t do anything about for another 6 months.
Last year when I turned 47 I knew I was on the right path so the age didn’t bother me so much. Plus I bought me some "boobies" and that was soooo the best decision ever.
On Sunday I will turn 48 and I can say I am in the best shape of my life. I look in the mirror and know I don’t look my age. Does the number 48 still bother me? Honestly, yes. Mostly because it is one tick closer to 50 which to me is a milestone - I’ll start getting mail from AARP!
So how am I celebrating….pretty low key compared to last year’s boobies….a nice dinner at Ruths Chris (I love the chicken) and a new sport armband for my iPhone.

Since I am teaching Aerobics in the morning this week I decided to put my fourth week of Insanity on hold this week and put all my energy in finishing my last weight lifting week of p90x. I’ll still do Insanity three days this week but since I am a stickler for following a plan exactly I have decided to do all of week four next week. I was worried about over training and the last thing I want to do is make it so I can’t work out.
I actually really like the routine I came up with for the Aerobics class. Four minutes of warm up cardio, 6 minutes of stretch then 3 minute max intenstiy cardio followed by four minutes of either upper body or lower body toning exercises. Cardio set one, Shoulder Burner series, Cardio set one, break 1 min, Legs and calf, Cardio set 2, Boxing drills, Cardio set 2, BREAK, Hip Flexor/ Obliques set, Cardio Set 3, Break, ABs set, Cool Down and stretch.
The ladies seem to like it since it was different than stepping for a hour.

Sunday is normally my rest day but I wanted to practice the workout I had planned for the Aerobics class I am subbing for this week. It worked perfectly. I ended at 1 hour and 1 minute burning 508 calories. I think this will be a fine sub for my Insanity workouts on MWF.
This will be my last weight lifting week for my third round of P90X. I plan to do another round following the recovery week but will mix and match my own with P90X Plus now that I can do a lot more pull ups.

Up a half an hour early thanks to hungry cats. Today was Cardio Power & Resistance, one of the easier Insanity workouts in my opinion. Later today will be Legs and Back.
Got some traditional calipers to measure body fat and found out that, yes my digital one is correct. Still hanging at 16-17%. I visually see a difference in my abs and thighs so I know the extra cardio is paying off.
Trying to figure out next week. I will be subbing for the aerobics teacher on MWF. I met the class last week and told them I wouldn’t be doing steps with them but I promised them a good workout. The class is at 8am so I am not sure how I am going to schedule my workouts. If I do my two workouts plus MWF Aerobics and TTH Fitness Toning I will be doing 3 workouts each day next week.

Well it was supposed to be Cardio Recovery but I needed a good hard workout to get me charged for the day and stretching wasn’t going to do it so I pulled out Max Cardio Sports Training…figured it sounded like a good one….it was. Fifty-four minutes of drills…the workout was longer but had more rests so I didn’t feel to wiped when it was over.
This afternoon will be Shoulders and Arms then followed by a lower body toning class I co-teach.
