It Must Be Insanity

I started doing double workouts three weeks ago. Cardio in the am and my regular P90X workout in the evening. I already see results that pesky ab fat is beginning to melt away. The PlyoX and IntervalX workouts are great - very intense but the others are not so much. I got a bonus P90 Cardio Interval workout and it is pretty good. The rest of the cardio workouts are not my favorites so I’ve been doing the elliptical at the gym. Now I like the elliptical. I jam on my ipod to classic rock while burning calories but after about 40 minutes my feet start getting numb. By 50 minutes they are completely numb.
Then I got the email….new workout DVD set at beachbody.com…Insanity….kind of the p90x of cardio/ab workouts. May just be what I am looking for. I have to love the "workout in your own pool of sweat".  That has me written all over it.

Insanity in the am and p90X in the pm…a plan or am I insane?

You can fight off age for most parts of your body but your eyes just don’t care. I’ve worn glasses since 7th grade and was a happy contact lens wearer for years until around 30 when I need to move to the dreaded bifocals thus ending contact lens use for 15 years. A couple of years ago I wanted the contact option again. At first I tried B & L Softlens Multifocals…not good. Then I tried Proclear Multifocals and for two years was fairly happy with them. They were good for occasional wear but I spend hours in front of a computer and glasses was just a better option on most days. My up close vision via contacts has been getting steadily worse so I went in for an exam and yes my add needed to go up from 1.50 to 2.00 in each eye. Put the new lenses in and all I can say is "Freaking Unbelievable" I see almost identical to my glasses now. I test 20/20 in distance and near. I’ve been wearing them all week. I feel like I did back in 7th grade with my first pair of glasses. I keep looking around in wonder of how good I can see!

Okay..I’m Not That Good

I know my resting HR is low (around 58-60) and that I have low, low blood pressure but when I do Plyometrics or Interval Cardio for an hour and my HR monitor says my top was 137 and my average HR is 118 something is just not right. Today I measured the old fashion way. I stopped and took my pulse for 15 secs did the math and it was 152 and my HR monitor said 133.

I know it was working when I bought it because the zone alarm was always going off during plyo and intervals.I think it has been a gradual thing…on the upside. I kept pushing myself harder and harder trying to get the rate up.
So, I ordered a new F11 Polar this morning. Early birthday present for myself.

The Best Benefit of Doubles

I started "Doubles" this week. I changed my workout to do some type of cardio in the am (plyo, intervals, kenpo, etc.) and moved my workouts back to the evenings. I can say it definitely woke my body up. I’ve lost three pounds plus I get the bonus benefit of eating a little more carbs.

I feel so invigorated after the cardio in the morning but I have to say I feel all of my 47 years when "waking my body up" in the warm ups at 6am.

Doubles and More Weight

After being inspired by Marion78 who has been doing P90X as long as I have but her results are amazing I have upped my weights (okay I admit I needed to buy some heavier dumbbells for some of the back exercises but kept putting it off) and added cardio each day. Hopefully, shifting to doubles for the last 60 days will push up the results.
