Nothing in Common

Friday, May 29th, 2009

"You really have nothing in common anymore." That statement was made by my new sister in law last weekend. I have been stewing on it all week. She is absolutely right. She got to experience for three days what life is like with my husband the "chronic napper and couch potato".

"Is he all right? Is there something wrong with him?"

No, other than he gets no exercise and eats very poorly other than dinner when he is forced to eat what I make.

"What do you do together for fun?"

Nothing. He is usually too tired. I go out with friends and by myself. If I wait on him it will likely never happen.

"How does he feel about the "new" you?

He doesn’t like the muscles. He has said more than once that he liked me better before. He thinks this is a phase I am going through.

Guess it is time to do some thinking…..seriously.

Mind Meld With Me

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Forgive the Star Trek reference but it fits. … trying to explain why I continue to eat healthy and workout to those around me who totally have no clue. First, fitness is a lifestyle not a goal. Most see diets as a temporary thing. I will get to X weight and then everything will be right with my world and I can go back to living like I want to. Second, I am not anorexic, bulimic, or have an unhealthy self image. "You don’t need to lose anymore weight." I hear that at least twice a week. I weight exactly the same as I did last year at the time. Exercising doesn’t necessarily mean weight loss. I do it because of how it makes me feel. The same with the diet.

If I could mind meld with you and let you feel for one minute how I feel all the time you would understand and the next day you would be right there next to me working out.

Yes, I am a geek hence the Star Trek reference. (Saw the new one on Friday…excellent.)

I Want Your Butt

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Okay that statement made me turn around and look. It was from one of the ladies who "sort of" works out at the same time I am training another woman. By sort of I mean she comes with two friends but talks more than she works out.

I told her "Thank you. You made my day"

What can I do? she asked.

"Squats, lunges and a lot of them. Join me tomorrow morning I am doing Back and Legs. It will give you an idea."
She did. She made it about 30 minutes until her legs were shaking and stopped. "You REALLY workout.! No wonder you look like you do."
