I Was Wearing a Bra, I Swear!

Friday, March 28th, 2008

I was changing to work out when I realized the pink and white striped bra I was wearing was going show through the white workout top I had selected. I am usually more careful in the morning when I select workout clothes and if the color of the undergarment is an issue I grab a tank to go over the workout top. I didn’t have an extra tank with me but I had a "sports bra" in my bag and I use that term loosely but I figured it was better than nothing. Apparently, I was wrong.

This would be a good time to explain that I am always cold so you know what is coming. I generally choose bras with slight padding to cover up this fact.  I head down to the gym very conscience of the fact that a) I am cold and b) it is very obvious that I am cold. Luckily, the weight room was empty and I did a great leg workout. I headed up to the cardio room which was freezing (it figures). I had no choice but to continue with my workout only to find out that along with not covering me enough the sports bra had little to no support. So now I am bouncing and showing "bunny noses" for all the world to see.

As I was leaving the receptionist pulled me aside and said "I hate to embarrass you but you really should be wearing a bra. I told I was. She looked down. Doesn’t look like it, she said. I know, I said. It was either this or everyone would see a pink and white striped bra under the shirt.
NOTE TO SELF: Keep extra tank at the office for the next time.

Cardio Cardio

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Wednesday is my cardio only day. My work schedule goes to 8pm on Wednesday’s to allow me to have Friday afternoons off. I only have time to do cardio. It is a nice break in the week plus I can really get going having not exhausted myself with weight prior to hitting the elliptical. I chose a great playlist and went to town for 35 minutes enjoying every minute of it. The bonus was I had absolutely no pain from my rib today when I moved.

Legs tomorrow!

Second Day Back Was First Rate

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Did arms and back today and finally felt like my old self. Best workout in three weeks. Followed with cardio and did 35 minutes on the elliptical with no discomfort.Whoo Hoo! Tomorrow is a cardio only day so I think i’ll go back to HIIT to see how I can handle it.

To top it off I had a really good hair day (women will understand).

One Day Down

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Did my usual leg / ab workout with a few modifications. I was able to do all the leg work but had to drop a few ab exercises from the list because of the rib. It felt so good to be back in the gym.

Also, as of next Monday I will begin taking clients for personal training.

Full Swing Tomorrow (Almost)

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

After taking it easy with only three workouts last week (sporting a broken rib) I am ready to get back to six days a week. I will still have to use lighter weights than normal but other than push ups I seem to be able to handle most exercises using a rib wrap. By Friday I was back at my regular cardio pace minus the rib wrap (too hard to breathe with that thing on). I seem to be healing quite fast.

Had Easter dinner at a friends house. She made little Easter baskets for us. Mine was filled with grapes, raspberries, and strawberries instead of chocolate like everyone elses. That was very sweet of her. It was my dessert while everyone ate peach cobbler.

Fight Over KFC

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

It was really stupid as most fights are. Well, it wasn’t what you picture married couple fight to be. You see, he sulks and won’t talk. That is how I know he is mad. Why? Because I refused to eat KFC.
We were out running errands. He said he wanted KFC. I said fine. He ordered his three piece, extra crispy, all white, with mashed potatoes, gravy, and cole slaw. I ordered water.
You aren’t eating?
Of course not. I can’t eat this stuff.
Sure you can. One time won’t kill you.
No, but it will make me sick to my stomach. The girl watched us. So just a water for you?
Yes. Just water.
He ate in silence.
On the way home he claimed I was obsessed and that I needed to lighten up.
I informed him that I wasn’t eating crap to make him happy.
But you have cheat days!
I have a cheat meal and I am not wasting it on KFC.
Silence.
We got home. More silence.
I ate the sushi I bought at the store that morning. More silence.
That was yesterday. He spent the evening watching Fox News, slept on the sofa and is working outside today.
Go figure.
PS. I still wouldn’t eat the fried chicken.

Until the Push Ups

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Did my first upper body workout since breaking my rib. I backed the weights back down and tentatively tried each exercise carefully before committing to a set. I was surprised to find I could do most of them. The exception was push ups. It only took two to stop and say "I think I’ll wait another week on these".
Diet has been successful so far this week. I am ramping back up on the amount of food again. I lost three pounds over the past two weeks simply because I barely ate half of what I needed to.
On the bright side I haven’t paid much attention to my body the past three weeks with the chest cold and then the broken rib. I was standing in my bathroom this morning bent over drying my hair when I looked at my thighs. Ah, my nemesis, my thighs but I saw only a tiny, and I mean tiny, bit of cellulite left over my knees. I stood up and looked into the mirror then grabbed my tape measure. Wow. I definitely got smaller. I’ve lost two inches from my chest and hips and another inch from my waist. I’ll be updating body stats tonight.

ISSA Certified!

Monday, March 17th, 2008

I received my test results today via mail 92.5%. I spent the last month studying every free moment. I headed to Atlanta last weekend for the seminar and took the closed book test at the end of the seminar. Kudos to Dr. Jack Barnathan who taught the seminar. He was great.
I am replacing the current personal trainer who is very, very pregnant.
So now I am quite the eclectic employee. I am the Network Admin, Web Designer, and now, Certified Personal Trainer.
I won’t start taking clients until next week. I asked to give my rib a little more rest.
I did workout this afternoon (much to the consternation of my husband). I did a 10 minute cardio warm up, then worked my legs and ended with 25 minutes of cardio. I wrapped my ribs tightly and other than a little pain while on the elliptical I did just fine.

Monday Will Be D-Day

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Decided against working out Thursday. I will start again on Monday to give my rib some more rest. Heading to Atlanta for the weekend for a wedding so I won’t be tempted to hit the gym on Saturday. It was so hard not to go to the gym. I really do miss it. At least I can work on the diet/nutrition. Got back in the swing of things the past two days.

We went out to dinner with two other couples last night. I sat next to a co-workers wife who is a very picky eater. (No food touching each other, nothing in her salads except for lettuce, casseroles are a nightmare to her) I did ask her if my eating Ahi tuna would bother her. She said it wouldn’t but what she didn’t realize it was just seared on the outside and raw in the middle. It took her about halfway through the main course to ask why my fish was red in the middle. When I told her she stopped eating all together.
