Achoo! Achoo!

Happy New Year Everyone! I am looking for a few helpful hints on how to handle working out with a cold. I woke up yesterday with a "lite" cold - just enough to get a little stuffy and sneeze a lot. My biggest concern is that it not get worse and go to my chest. I’ve been using Zicam to help it stay at a minimum. I passed on working out yesterday (my usual day off) and today since I am visiting family in Atlanta (and face it it was too cold to go outside and run). I’ll be back home tomorrow afternoon and plan on at least a light cardio and weights. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My First Post

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

I am sitting here the day after Christmas waiting for a friend to call to go and workout. We use the gym at work and it is closed for the holidays but I have a master key. It isn’t in the greatest neighborhood so I feel safer going with a friend. Her husband came with us on Monday to stand guard so to speak.

I wish I had a before picture…I probably could dig one up somewhere. I was always very good an NOT getting my picture taken because I hated the way I looked. It is hard to tell by my picture how small my frame is. Look at my hands. My ring finger size is a 3 1/2. So a 160 lbs on this frame made me feel like a cow. I got down as far as 114 while I was hiking through Scotland this summer but I average around 118 -120 most weeks.

The working out came to be simply because I have areas of ‘body fat’ I wanted to get rid of. Now I am addicted and plan on sculpting the body of my dreams. After a month of working out (missing only five days total) I see a difference. The flabbiness in my arms is gone, my stomach is tighter, but the fat above my knees is still there. I will be meeting with a personal trainer after the first of the year for help with free weights. Most of the time I work out I have the place to myself so ‘pumping iron’ isn’t an option without help.

Welcome!
