back from spring break

dunno how i did it, but i ate and drank pretty much whatever i wanted (within reason) over spring break and my waist is still 32" and my arms increased in size from 15.5 to 16"  (WTF?).   for right now im just gonna take what im calling a "matienence break"  for an undecided period of time.  im just gonna try to eat around 2200-2800 cals a day (still under matienence on a BMR calc, but i think my levels are lower) and get around 200-220gms of  protein.  eat healthy other than that and prolly drink 1-2 times a week.  if i can keep my waist at 32" i will be pretty excited.  this might be 2 weeks it might be 8.  im just not very excited about cycling carbs or doing keto or UD 2.0 right now.  i got an infinite time to cut so why not do it slowly over a long period and still have fun u kno?

Switched To CKD for 2 weeks… now SPRING BREAK!

i switched to CKD for the last 2 weeks. today im about to go workout my arms and come back and carb up.  then its off to the beach for 4 days.  ill be trying to limit my cals to matienence.  when i get back on tuesday ill be working out every day wed-sun, as well as doing cardio on those days.  im gonna be eating at matienence give or take 200 +- and be drinking all of spring break.  i dont want to gain any fat.  thats the main goal for this week.  take a break.  will be fun to get to indulge a lil bit.  hopefully it will confuse my body… since i have been dieting for 2 months and been in a deficit mostly the whole time.
when i get back i think im gonna start a 40-40-20 or 40-30-30 typical cutting dieting.   do that for 2-3 weeks.  my main goal is to get used to dieting different ways, find what i like and dont like, what works best, etc.  it also allows me to get some tips and tricks on each diet and get effiecient at preparing meals.  then once im done with 40 40 20, i will be doing a cylical diet incorporating alot of diets.  u do 3-4 days of one, then carb up, then 3-4 days of another, carb up, repeat.  its a lil more complex than that, but thats what ill be doing.

its so nice that im not preparing for a contest.  i dont kno how people do that.  i have no idea when ill get to the bf% i want.

Great Week

after losing 1 inch or so in the first couple weeks of dieting i lost 1.5 inches on my waist this week.  the week isnt even over, but im guessing the lost is due to the 2 full body depletion workouts over 1 high rep leg workout that i was doing before.  so ya this is pretty exciting.

thats it for today… im pretty giddy right now.

Slowly switching to a UD 2.0 Hybrid

im switching from a cylical carb diet to a hyrbrid with ud 2.0.  basically the only differences is the 4 days a week full body workouts and im doing a smaller version of the ud 2.0 carb up.  i might do this just this week (the carb up).  i was reading a thread in the losing fat section that kinda backed up what i thought about switching through lots of different diets to keep leptin levels in constant flux.   so i might be doing 2-3 days keto, 1 day refeed, then 2-3 days 40-30-30, then a couple days timed carb dieting, then 4 days low carb low cal, then refeed etc.  that could be one of tons of different combos.  so im thinking about that as well.  since im not cutting for any contest im not worried about anything other than losing fat and maintaing muscle.  today i felt really lean so… so far so good.  as long as im not gaining weight im cool.

o and felt pretty strong in the gym today.

Took a Break

starting on thursday i took a break from my diet for 4 days.  ending tonight.  im not going crazy eating everything in sight or anything, but i pretty much am just eating what i want, and trying not to go over matienence levels (3300 cals).  on thursday i think i went over 1000 cals, but other than that i think i limited it to mateinence or less.  i basically took the break because i was coming home this weekend for my moms birthday, and i knew i would be drinking.  its nice to take breaks and keeps me sane.  we will see on tuesday when i do my weekly weigh in.  if i weigh 206 or less ill be content (meaning i didnt gain any weight).  im also increasing my workouts to 4 a week (up from 3).  im switching over to a more UD 2.0 workout scheme (4 full body workouts a week, 2 for depletion on low carb days and 2 power workouts on bulk days).   im slowly morphing my diet from the "3 days low carb 50% cals 4 days matience cals/carbs " model to a more ud 2.0 style (which is really similar, but u trim calories on sat and sun and also carb up on thurs fri). im thinking im gonna need about 6-7 more weeks of cutting to get around 9% bf.  but thats a total guess.  ive never cut before, but i think i remember hearing people say that ur cuts come fast as u progress, like alot of progress seems to take place in a 2-3 week stretch.  we will see.  progress has been a lil slow for me so far.

About Cutting

yaaaa today is day 3 of low carb/low calorie on my cylical carb diet.  seriously everything in sight looks good.  i got off work and went to the store to buy stuff for tommorows dinner (chicken and pasta and caesars salad, mmmmm cant wait, tommorow is my first “refeed/semi cheat, 5 weeks into the diet) and everything looked sooo fucking good.  im really strong willed and dont give in it but it was hard not too.  they had all these cakes and cookies and brownies on sale since they hadnt sold them for valentines.  i stuck to what i needed and got out.  so i come home and…. ya.  one of my 3 girl roomates decided to buy 2 half gallons of vanilla ice cream and got marchino cherries, m&ms, oreos, strawberry, caramel and chocolate syrups, sprinkles and crumbled cookies.  god i want to eat like the whole half gallon that they didnt eat and all the toppings.  but i just had no fat cottage cheese and a tablespoon of PB.  it will all be worth it in another month or so tho.

Some History

guess im gonna start one of these blog things.  some history/info on me is that uhhh:

-ive been lifting since 7th grade (7 years ago, i was 13 then) when we(me and my brother) got a bench and some weights from a old man down the street.  maxed out at 95lbs the first time i lifted.  other than that i dont really remember all of what i was doing.  mostly just bench, 10lb DB curls for sets of 30+ (lol), situps, lateral raises… just random shit.  mens health got me more interested in lifting having a program

-so i did the whole lift whenever i feel like it thing for about 2 years till i left my private school (no sports) and went to HS for 9th grade.  i decided i wanted to play football and i heard about this MAC course thing.  signed up for it the summer before 9th grade and got my first real taste of lifting.  i also started taking some whey shakes after i worked out (whey/milk/bananas/PB).  my max on bench went from 125 to 185 in about a month.  i hated squatting and was really good at power cleans. 

-so freshman offseason lifting roles around and i gained 10lbs on my max (185-190) bench over the season, without lifting but once a week.  we maxed out on everything and i was the 2nd strongest player on the team. (squatted 225, cleaned 155).  so by the end of freshman offseason my bench max hadnt changed and my squats were all the way up to 345 max.

 -fast foward through soph and junior years to my senior year… football was about to be over and it was time i made my own program.  i had never worked out over the summer or during winter break (something i still regret) and my maxes on everything went up to around where they still are today (mostly due to still not working out during 1-1.5 months each summer and winter.) 

-its a lil frustrating that my strength hasnt increased, but my knowledge has vastly increased and ive gained about 15lbs of muscle since then without ever watching my calories or doing a "clean" bulk.  i pretty much just ate lots of protein, and had a good pre and post workout meal strategy.

-now to present day. im cutting for the first time in my life, which also means im watching my portions/weighing shit, adjusting macros, eating very clean for the first time as well. im cycling my carbs and its working pretty good.  after i get done cutting ill prolly go into a very slight bulk (+100 calories a day) so i can maintain the cut look for a while.  getting used to cutting and watching my portions has really changed the way i will look at bulking this summer (which i will be working out) i gotta bust through this 1-1.5 year rut ive been in.  not alot of progress… really pisses me off sometimes.  i should be benching 400 squatting 500 and deadlifting 550-600.

-i ****ed up my lower back this past summer and i still dont kno how. i havent done deads since then and ive squatted sparingly.  hopefully ill get it figured out sometime soon.
