Physical Fitness, a Daily Process
So, its mid-April in Boise and it seems that spring is finally here. The long winter hibernation is over and it’s time to kick some @ss and get motivated. As I have been pounding the pavement over the past years, I always notice an increase of joggers during the spring; this also applies to the gym.
With that said, this time of the year always reminds me of the 3 D’s, Determination, Dedication, and Discipline. Every year around spring (the swimsuit fitness bandwagon) and New Years (the OK, this year I’m getting in shape bandwagon) people come out of the woodwork and begin fitness programs. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the fitness bandwagons for the fact of getting out there and doing something, but it needs to be a way of life and you should apply the 3 D concepts. Frank Campitelli published “Determination, Dedication, and Discipline” on April 1, 2009 on Personal Trainer Today, it is a good article for everyone to read.
For all of those seasonal fitness junkies, as a CPT, I encourage you to use a 3 D concept or approach, and make fitness a part of your daily life. Failure to do so results in training your bodies to be on a fitness/health roller-coaster, which can lead to an overall unhealthy life. This may sound like I am slamming seasonal fitness junkies, but I’m not. The bottom line is daily physical fitness is healthy and an important part of total and overall body fitness, we all just need to remain determined, dedicated, and disciplined throughout the year. After all, life is a sport, play hard and have fun.
