Big lifts this weekend

A really solid weekend of training had. Here is Saturday’s stats

(Kg x Rep)

 

Decline Barbell Press 70x 10 70x 6

Incline Dumbbell or Smith Press 50x 10 50x 9

Flyes(DB) 30x 15 30x 12

Close-grip Pulldown 63x 14 63x 9

Bent Barbell Row 60x 9 60x 7

Deadlifts 80x 10 80x 10

Dumbbell Shoulder Press (front) 40x 10 40x 9

Dumbbell Upright Row 35x 9 35x 8

Dumbbell Bent-over Lateral 30x 14 30x 12

Barbell Shrug  - missed

Lying Leg Raise - missed

Floor Crunch - missed

Please note that these sets were done with little to no rest in between. You can see the fatigue in the 2nd sets

Shoulder playing up meant I missed out shrugs, no abs as I ran out of time and was pretty dead

Made up for that on Sunday with 1hr cardio and serious ab abuse!

My Thoughts

I still have minor issues with an old shoulder injury that basically killed my bench

Bench still my weak point, but is steadily climbing, so I remain positive

Soon I’ll bench my bodyweight for reps comfortably, and build from there

Deads are increasing, I’ll get to 100K in no time I just know it.

I’m getting back to my former beastly self

Killin it!

Following a few months of a serious motivational low, I’m glad to report that I am back to my old ways, where there’s so much I want to fit into life 24 hrs is just not enough.

I’ve decided to get as much piano work as possible in town, so I can leave my office management job (of 9 years!)

I’m making a break for it - this is it. It’s my year. I have to do all this before 30 kicks in this December, that’s the plan

I am using this new found optimism and drive towards my training too and am just killing the iron. I’m back to my old SPOT strength training, which means gradual increases in all lifts, meaning more mass and more confidence. Yeah that’s what I’m talkin about! I’m gonna post up some new pics tomorrow, don’t think you’ve ever seen me pumped as all my other pics are cold.

So, if cosmic forces are on my side I’m gonna ride this wave and see how far I go. Wish me luck!

Crunchy shoulders, work and weekend breaks…

Battled on last night against my recurring shoulder injury, which comes and goes however last night it was crunchy from the off, which pissed me off

So, crappy bench stats. Also V unhappy with the pulldowns. Otherwise some decent lifts. Enjoyed the dealifts and the headrush that follows. mmmmm

Missed the abs and finished off with 22min cardio.

Had fresh fish and veg for evening meal. Nice

I’ll be in tonight for B2 workout, (legs bi’s and tri’s plus abs + cardio). Hopefully I’ll be back up to full strength.  

I’m gonna have to try VERY hard to fit in my next few sessions. I’m away with work Thurs and Fri, so will get cardio done Thurs in a crappy hotel gym.

Friday I’ll be home too late to workout. Saturday I’m taking the wife away for her birthday, so the only was I’ll get a session in the gym will be if I get up at 0600 Sat, SO I’M GONNA! Then I’m not home until Monday. Grrrrr…..

It’s a tiny island off the NE coast of England, called holy island. Look it up, it’s an amazing place only about 2 miles wide and long. (so I’m guessing no gym!) Might run around it a few times.

Naked Sundays

You know I like to share.

Well I’ll share this with you - Sunday’s are my rest days, usually spent naked around the house or maybe wearing just a towel. I usually revert to cave-man mode, watch TV, eat, generally chill and be lazy.

So yesterday I cooked some lovely fish in the oven (must have been for meal 4 or something), just wrapped in foil with a little olive oil to stop it sticking. 20 mins later I went to get the fish out, and accidently run boiling hot fish oil over my leg!! aaaaaaaarrrgh!

So today I’m nursing a blistered, red horrendous top of my thigh. hmm…..think next time I’ll be more careful and might even put some clothes on….

I would post up a pic, but it’s just gross.

OK PEOPLE…Here the next installment. Yesterday’s workout was mostly legs with Bi’s and Tri’s at the end. Again, looks a breeze but it aint!

Damn hard. I’ve negleted my legs for a while, mostly because genetically my legs are big however it would seem they’re not all that strong! I’ve squatted a LOT more in the past. Ah well, it’s all onwards and upwards from here baby!

Again, the intensity was insane, bang bang bang on to the next one…and today I’m sore as hell, ALWAYS a good sign for me.

My diet is still consistently good. Lots of protein, healthy carbs and some good fats from nuts and stuff. I’ve got one hell of an appetite again, let me tell ya! It’s everything I can do to stop eating everything

Rest day today, thank God! I feel pumped, sore and flat as a pancake all at the same time! LOL This is goooood.

Now that both my training partner and I are back to full strength I’ve decided to change up the workout program and go back to my old SPOT training routine. (details are on my bodyspace)

 This means I am logging each session. So, instead of ‘ooh, look at me am I pretty? - it’s more about whoooo look my freaking lifts!

So yesterday was the first session, the base from which to build. It went like this

On paper this looks like a breeze - sure just 2 sets per exercise, but let me tell you, going to complete faliure on all sets is a whole new ball game! The intensity is harsh but exciing. The only rest is when my partner is lifting, so 30 sec max. By the end of this session, I KNOW I could have lifted more on the side raises but I just didn’t want to! I was burning all over, seriously. We ran out of time so had to miss shrugs (damn I love them!) and abs. The above took just under 1 hr.This programme is more of a head game than anything but from experience I know that sticking to it, and gaining +1 rep each session guarantees results!

Down but not out

Meh, I been ill - still am actually.

 

Full of cold and coughing up nasties. Gross.

So progress - what’s that?! LOL. Feeling fat, unfit and frustrated.

I was going to train yesterday but my body thought better of it (dizzy, coughing fit etc), so I stayed at home. Gonna have to take today off too.

Can’t even play at my piano bar cos I cannot sing, and if I could I would sing the blues….
