I Think I need an Intervention!!

Food is sooo addictive!! Lord have mercy! I am slowly weaning myself off the EAT Everything diet into the eat to live and lose some weight diet, but the food calls me….whoa! I swear I think I’m a drug addict to food; its hilarious; we had to clean the house out of all the goodies so I don’t sneak to it at night!! I have to make sure I don’t get coffee at Dunkin Donuts cause How can I resist the Croissant! I commute sixty miles to work everyday, and try my best not to stop in a service station because I may have to pick up some munchies for the road……Don’t let me drive by a Mc Donald’s cause the smell of the fries may make me do a u-turn in the middle of the road……somebody stop me! They should make an intervention show for people like me……….It won’t have anything on the new biggest loser…..Oh my goodness, the people on the show were really saddening; I know that food is an addiction, I need to break the addiction for me and so I don’t pass it on to my kids……

    Wow!
Well I try to think of foods in terms of minutes on the step machine. A few months ago I cheated and had a doughnut. Felt so guilty that I NEEDED to burn it off that day. One doughnut cost me over 10 thousand steps and 45 minutes on the step machine. It only took 2 minutes to eat that doughnut and 45 to burn it off. So when I think of cheating I look it in terms of what I will need to do to burn it off. Hope this helps.

It is a very hard task to overcome, but you can do it by focusing on the goal and then it is not a goal but a lifestyle change. I have lost 85lbs in 6 months and faced with some of the same temptations that you have described in your article. The key that I have found out about temptation is that it is something you have total control over and need to focus your mind on the prize and change your thought pattern when you are tempted. We are all driven by what we think about and if you replace those thoughts of temptation with fuel for success, you will have it. I heard a funny story about wisdom. Here goes: There was a young man in Socrates time and he wanted to obtain wisdom and went on a journey to find Socrates and found him on the beach. The young man approached Socrates and pleaded with him to give him wisdom. Socrates ask again what the man was seeking and the young man rolled his eyes and said in a sarcastic tone. I am seeking wisdom. Socrates said, Ok follow me into the water chest deep. They young man and Socrates were chest deep in the sea and Socrates placed his hands on the young mans shoulders and dunked him under the water for 15 seconds and let him up. Socrates then ask again what the young man was seeking and he replied (Wisdom) Socrates then dunked him under the water again, this time for 30 seconds and let him up and ask what is it you are seeking? The young man replies (WISdom)????? Socrates then dunked him under the water for 45 seconds and the young man was struggling violently to come up for air and Socrates let him up and ask? What do you seek? The young man gasping for air shouted to Socrates “I want Air” I want Air”! Socrates said when you want WISDOM as much as you want Air, then you will have it. I thought this is a great story, because when we set our goals we need to focus on them and replace our thoughts of temptation with the pursuit of our goal. Have a great day.

If your scared of passing it on to your kids, and scared of stopping for bad food choices in the car put a picture of your kids in the car to remind you.

I love fast food and could eat it all the time. I’ve found that longer I stay away, the EASIER it is to stay away. So buckle down and really try hard to avoid those places. You’ll be doing your children the biggest favor in the world. If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for them.
