max lifts/tri-phase training

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

I’ve decided to change up my program yet again. I was searching through BB.com and came across some articles by Derek Charlebois, I read a bit and saw the tri-phase training technique. I think it looks interesting and may shock my body a little, hopefully adding some muscle and cutting some of this fat I desperatly need to get rid of. I felt like I’ve lost alot of strength since begining to cut for summer( I’ve kinda been slacking on weight training and focusing on cardio.)Just for the sake of measure, I decided to do another max-rep day today, I wanted to see where I was at strength wise and was plesantly surprised( the stats are posted in the workout tracker) I’m actually about my average and stronger in some areas!!

I’m going to keep my cals. the same but just focus more on weight training again, but still making sure to add some good cardio sessions. I think I should see some more progress in the coming weeks ( I’ve plateaued at about 186-7 lbs.) I will start the program on this coming Sunday. I should post the results at the end of week one, and will add some progress pics later today.

Quick follow up

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

This post is just a quick follow up to my last post…I’ve posted new progress pics and after looking at them realized that there has been a pretty good change in the last 3-4 months that I’ve been visiting this site, and tracking myself with pics…I still feel like my progress has been quite stagnant in the last month or so, but then again I’ve never really "cut" before( I’ve always been trying to put on muscle… and a big ol’stomach in the process). Maybe I’m just feeling weak because of the lack of cals.?? and I’m just not used to the feeling of actually losing weight (and some muscle)?? I’m really not sure…. so I’ve decidecd to move my schedule to a little: I’ m going to focus on agility and endurance over  the summer, while still trying to keep/get tone to my muscle. I recently saw a posting at my college for B-ball tryouts in September and am considering trying out so want to put some attention on getiing my game back….Its been a while…. I’m short (5′8") but had game back in the day…. so,….ummm yeah……I carried this on longer than I meant to and  turned it into a(nother) rant…

Blog Entry

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Well summer’s basically here, and I have to say, overall I’m not very impressed with my progression so far. I have done well, but am nowhere near where I expected to get myself. I still feel embarrased taking my shirt off at the beach, which I really wanted to fix before this summer hit (the complete lack of a tan doesn’t help by any means.)I still have a couple weeks until full beach season arrives, but don’t see any real transformation happening in that time.

That’s one of the things I love about fitness: You can’t blame anyone but yourself!!(unless you use that "bad genetics" BS) So for this summer I’m just going to continue to watch my food intake, maybe increase cardio again, and hope I do make myself do better for next year!!  oh and definitly work on this "pastey white guy" thing I got going on!!

Any comments, opinions, etc. are more than welcome (someone give me something here)
