Colony Collapse Disorder
I've known about this for some time but it was again brought to my attention earlier today when I read an article pertaining to this serious threat to our food supply. Colony Collapse Disorder refers to a disorder affecting Honey Bees that causes adult honey bees to either abandon their colony or lose their way back. The queen still lives, the brood (larvae) are still alive and well, there is just a complete absence of adult honey bees. While some of you may welcome the fact that there are less bees in the world, it also means that there will be less food as honey bees polinate 1/3 of our nation's food production.
