Rehab
Just did a bunch of knee and leg rehab stretching and mobility work.

Decided to try and keep any and all strain off the hamstrings this week. Next week I’ll hit some lower back stuff that will touch on the hammies but stay away from moving the knee joint that hurts the most. I WILL be back to squatting and deadlifts by this time next month. This week… this entire training cycle has been depressing. I am NOT a single lift person. There’s no way I could be a bench specialist. I have no desire for it and is not in my heart to do so. I have found that out very very quickly. I thought I might be okay with going into the meet bench only but there is no way I’m even close to being okay with it.

I’m going to do everything I can to keep my sanity and get back under the bar fully by next month. Doing a little rehab every day, drinking a TON of water right now, and started up a huge cocktail of support/repair supplements.

Lacked a lot of motivation this morning. Had to stop taking pain meds last Thursday as it was really tearing my stomach up. Still have extreme acidic moments and feels like I’ve burned up my esophagus. I got a set of APT knee sleeves a while ago and have been wearing that and the compression and warmth from that has helped reduce some of the pain. The brace just braces the knee and limits the ROM. Mostly annoying. I think the knee sleeve helps the most which I still wear under the brace.

On a really BIG plus side it seems I got myself another sponsor ship. Been talking with Alan of APT and he’s going to be sending me out some gear! I’m really happy about that as I love APT’s products. Now I can try out even more of his wraps. Sucks right now though that I wont be able to take FULL advantage of knee wraps but I have a nice wish list of wraps I’ve been wanting to check out including the Black Reaper and Black Mamba knee wraps and the ZRV-Pro wrist wraps.

Doctors Report Card

Well, the doctors report is in. I went in and got a bunch of stuff done at once since I rarely if ever end up at the doctors office.

No broken bone but the tendon is torn. Not all the way off luckly, which I knew that much. They gave me this hinged brace to wear and some anti-inflamitories. Said it could take several months to fully heal and that I need to do some physical therapy crap. I asked for the sheet of paper that shoes the exercises and I can do them at home. I was surprised when they didn’t argue at all about that which was cool.

While I was in there I had them check out my blood work and all that other crap.
Blood Preasure: 100/60
Heart Rate: 65
Glucose: 65
Total Cholesterol 160
LDL: 90

That’s what I was most interested in. There was other crap and the doc said the rest all came back as great numbers. I still have pretty much the same numbers I’ve had for years.

So, looks like as long as I keep working as hard as I do I can keep up with the eat anything diet for now. At least I got some good news out of this.

As for the tendon thing. THIS SUCKS!!! I might end up having to go bench only if I can’t get it fully repaired in enough time. I’d like to be back fully training squats and deads next month to be able to get any kind of results back from training before the April Meet. We’ll see how it goes.

DAMN IT, I was already pissed off going into today. I hate missing workouts and I HATE not handling heavy weights. 505×1 was some good anger management. Was about to go back to hit 495 but said SCREW YOU 495!!! and slapped on a couple nickels. Almost didn’t make it and almost gave up but anger drove me to keep pulling back.

This entire training cycle has been CRAP!! Started out with walking pneumonia which delayed me a few weeks and now this hamstring issue. Missed a workout for some rehab junk and I wasn’t about to miss out on another day. So, I did some more knee stretching and mobility work with it last night, icing, took a ton more ibuprofen, and a muscle relaxer. This morning popped some more ibuprofen and wrapped up my knee and went for it. Didn’t do what I wanted to do, some more box squats, so I did some GMs and rack pulls so I didn’t have to bend my knee to much which is when it really hurts. Tuesday it was feeling better and yesterday morning as well but I think the leg drive in the bench irritated it some more and all day yesterday it was getting stiffer and stiffer again.

Rehab

Been doing some rehab work with the right knee. Did a lot of stretching and mobility work with the help of some bands. Lots of icing and ibuprofren the past few days. It’s getting better and well see if I can get in a sq/dl day in tomorrow or maybe Friday.

Worked on bring the bar down faster and reverse the direction as fast as possible. So, really didn’t pause on the boards like I usually do. Need to get the bar speed moving much faster especially on the way down. I think this will help. Able to walk up and down stairs with out a lot of pain now. Was able to give some leg drive with out to much discomfort as well.

Partial Tear of the Tendon from the Hamstring to the fibula!!!

Well, slipped on the sidewalk at work on the way in this morning and did something really bad to the right side of the knee. Pretty much right where the hamstrings insert right onto the fibula. It’s really tender right there and hurts to stand up and sit down or anything that moves that bone around. Sucks, was going to do a SQ/DL day tomorrow…

Felt pretty good today and did a lot more volume. Got to 275 and was only going to do a single but then decided to hit a double. Was going to call it done after the 275 but then decided I really wanted to feel 315 in my hands. I need to work on bar speed this cycle in all my lifts. Need to bring the bar down faster for both the squats and bench and need to be more explosive on the deadlift. Once I get some weight on the bar I slow down a lot bringing the bar down. You can see once I hit 185 the bar speed slowed down quite a bit and keeps getting slower as I put more weight on the bar.
