And, I’m an idiot.
My trip to the doctor yesterday confirmed my greatest fear: I’m a moron.
Turns out I have had a terrible ear infection for about 2 months…it’s what caused the stroke-like symptoms…numb face, screwed up vision, hearing difficulties, dizzyness, out-of-body feelings…the doc said he was surprised I could hear out of my left ear, and he was also surprised that I hadn’t complained of pain and headaches sooner. Oh, and the ‘night sweats’ were caused by the fever that I’ve had for ages. STUPID STUPID JANELLE. Now I’m on antibiotics and some vertigo-fixing meds…the pressure in my eye is already starting to subside, which is nice…I was tired of looking at people with my left eye closed and my head tilted. The only thing that I’m still concerned about was my inability to form a sentence…
I’m SUPER happy that it wasn’t TIA…I’m too young for strokes!
I’m still pushing myself to go to the gym…4x this week already, and it’s only Wednesday! Today was shoulders, traps and calves. I got to do Elvis lip and I liked it.
The boy will be home in a week!! Then, the next day, we leave for Beautiful British Columbia to spend some time with my family. I can barely wait! It’s time for a quick cut before I get home…35C+ weather is NO TIME for clothing!
Thank you to all of you for your thoughts and kind words during my retardation.

I’m glad it’s just an ear infection, although it sounds awful! Have fun in british Colombia!!

Wow, I’m with the doc…how did you get along for so long without pain. Ear infections are the worst!
Don’t worry though, I had a horribly painful headache that the ER doc thought was a brain aneurysm, so he sent me to get an MRI done. FOLLOWED immediately by a spinal tap that the physician’s assistant kept poking at my spine bone, so they sent me up to x-ray so he could view my spine to get it right.
Then the next month, I was sent to the neurologist who ordered a CAT scan to make sure no one else missed anything.
Final verdict….it was just a stupid headache.

Aah, yeah the medical system seems geared towards scaring the **** out of people! "Oh, you have a cough? Must be the swine flu! YOU’RE GOING TO DIE!"
I honestly think the medications they gave me to fix the problem make me feel worse than the problem itself.

Glad it all turned out ok for you!

Don’t worry about being a moron, it’s a very widespread condition!
Now seriously, I hope you recover fast

Ear infections suck, but I’m glad it wasn’t related to your melon after all.
On the moron thing, I though I had strained a back muscle back in my youth and did nothing but take liquid pain killers (Budweiser) for months. Turns out that pulled muscle was a ruptured disk. Who knew.
Glad you are OK, Janelle.

That is good news. I hope you get to feeling better quickly.

I had an ear infection 2 years ago like that, only i seriously couldn’t function! Fever, gunked up nasty ear with TONS of pain….It was starting to affect the mastoid (bone behind the ear) so they gave me antibiotics….It went away then
Seriously I don’t know how you toughed it thru your days with that! So GLAD that’s all it was though!

Don’t feel like an idiot. Yeah, it turned out to be *just an ear infection* but think of the alternative. Personally, I’m happy that it was just an ear infection, and I’m happy that you took it seriously, just in case it had been something more.
