Bodyspace - Glorifying the rise of the female attention seeking Internet po
It has taken me since February of last year, but finally I am going to take a stand on this.
I can no longer sit by and let this kind of behaviour go without giving my 2 cents..
I am here to discuss bodyspace, but with an emphasis being placed on the top female profile section.
When bodyspace first started, it was full of athletic individuals and people who have made fantastic progress, with good advice and lots of solid posts on the forums that you could look back on and take nutritional and training advice from, even get one on one help from them.
Soon after, people started abusing the system of bodyspace..
Certain individuals would spam their picture in the hopes of getting into the top profiles.
They would put a link to their profile wherever possible on the internet.
In the end, people who really had no knowledge or background in bodybuilding or fitness in general were in the top profiles.
Crime? Maybe not, but it made it a lot harder for people to get in touch with the real individuals of bodyspace and bodybuilding.com Anyway, a little more time after that, it seemed women had latched onto an idea.
It went a little something like this,
“Hey, maybe if I show some full on ass and tit, I can suddenly become a top 6 profile and become the attention whore I always dreamed of becoming”
And so.. the bodyspace pornstar brigade was born.
Ok, some of them have muscle tone and a little fitness. Some of them look like they train somewhat.. However, they are not posting a close up shot of their behind because it shows off their glutes, they are doing it for attention.
There are some really great female athletes and transformations on bodyspace and they are being cheapened by the fact that if you are a female with no muscle tone, transformation, or athletic experience, you can post a picture of your boobs or ass and get a top six profile spot and exposure.
This is ugly. The top six has ranged from having a 17 year old girl showing a little too much skin, to women constantly spamming the latest picture section with pictures of their bottoms and breasts.
And bodyspace has let this continue.
Why do I say this? Not just because of the above, but because it cheapens women in general.
The whole fitness industry for women is cheapened because some are willing to basically become pornstars to get ahead.
I am saying it now, bodyspace needs to take a stand and do something about this because so many people, myself included, hardly ever visit anymore because of the amount of dirt being posted.
At least one male member of this site needs to stand up and be heard to let the real female athletes they have support and should not have to cheapen themselves. An example of my above rant can be seen below (today’s top is what pushed me over the edge - the top 2 listed below): http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/MissStacey/
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/TooSeXyKatie4u/
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/thgirlnxtdr/
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/Brittany0G/
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/eurasiansurgeon/
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/kimyuba/ And one 17 year old:
http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/sarahmusclegal/ (was 17 at the time of posting)
Now there are go-go dancers getting into the top six? Whatever next - real life pornstars?

well, you’re going to piss off alot of people with this, but there are just as many people who will agree with you.
me? i’m an agreer. a good friend of mine has had pics banned and they are nowhere as revealing as the aforementioned ladies, nor is she an attention-magnet. just a great person who works her ass off.
can’t wait to see the fallout from your post, thanks for throwing it out there!

Great post, indeed has become more like PornSpace than BodySpace, especially when there is not one women in the top six not showing off T+A.
January 27, 2009 at 5:54 am
I do agree with this. They are just making harder for those of us who are trying to transform our bodies! When I come to post my ‘after’ pics I hope they will be seen as a demonstration of my efforts and hard work, hopefully having paid off!

AMEN my iron brother! The younger and softer, the more views,it’s a f***ing joke! We need more Amysuds and Chicken Tuna, the women that are real and who I look up to. Most of these girls haven’t worked out a day in their lives, give me a f***ing break!
January 27, 2009 at 6:34 am
I’m with you on this one. Since I’ve started using bodyspace, i noticed that people will constantly change their pics so people will look at them. Don’t get me wrong the girls are hot, but do you have to constantly change your profile pic so you stay in the top 6? i pretty much ignore them now and just scroll down to the blogs.

My wife and I laugh about this all time, I actually think it is funny to see all these people via for attention and popularity, it appears they need praise to feel good about themselves it’s like a wannabe audition for some modeling gig. I came to this site to learn and be around people who are serious about something in life. Every where I go I am surrounded by people who don’t take any pride in themselves or what they do (ignorance). I am amused by the kiddy, Myspace stuff on this site (perpetrated by adults). I know there are some real people here who are putting in the work (like you) which is why I stay the (thing is we’re a minority).
The bottom line is; this is a business set up to attract potential customers so it’s irrelevant what we think or if you are true to your word or take pride in what you do. Without costumers who will spend money; there is no site so, to have a site then (ignorance/exploitation) is a part of the equation. Hey, maybe some of them will learn something here, the thing is everyone knows who’s real and who’s fake and for those who don’t they’ll learn. So let them expose there true insecure, pride-less selfs, it is quite a spectacle of humane behavior for those who can see it.

dude…im 17 and completely agree. Thats saying something
January 28, 2009 at 3:45 am
I agree with you about the female top 6, but unfortunately that is the only way some people can feel good about themselves! My somewhat sexier pics are for fitness modelling pursuits, but I never make my profile pic outrageously sexy for the reasons you have stated. It is fun to play for pics though, I think every girl secretly wants to be a model!! To be honest, anyone who wants the advice and true inspiration and motivation will find it through searching the site and not just looking at the first page.

JJ, you are the man dude, i’m glad you are taking a stand on this. I’m here to learn about fitness and working out, not see a bunch of girls slut it up. What’s with the JTGirlz gogodancer thing anyway? If you go back and read the old bodyspace rules, it says no pictures of thongs/ass shots/etc, whatever happened to the guidelines and rules being enforced? The top 6 is just crazy, some of those girls don’t even workout! It’s sad. I guess Bodyspace is welcoming the extra traffic or something it’s getting for basically becoming a porn site.

****in’ A bro! Read some of my blogs. I’ve been ranting about this crap as well. Especially about the married pieces of shit who get on here and flirt with others to make themselves feel better.
I’ve seen at least 3 guys I KNOW are married actively seeking out women on this site. It disgusts me and if I had it my way I’d punch them square in the face! I love my wife to no end and the people who make a mockery of marriage make me sick!
January 31, 2009 at 8:29 am
I so agree with you. This site is getting out of hand.
January 31, 2009 at 8:44 am
It disgusts me the most that minor aged girls get attention from men and make their way to the Top 6.
January 31, 2009 at 9:06 am
I’m with Layne mostly on this. There are some Bodyspaces I have been to once & will never again primarily due to content as opposed to just imagery. But I agree - its become like Cinemax After Dark for some…
January 31, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Great blog babe! This is why I love you, because you are a real man.
As you know I’ve been competing in fitness for over 10 years as well as many others, but what who do we see on the top profiles and covers of magazines? Hmmm proof positive that sex sells.
Love you honey!
xo xo

I tottaly agree with this
February 6, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Yo I agree with this!
February 11, 2009 at 7:44 am
This is sssoooo true and even one of the girls wrote she was so happy that one of her fellow ‘dancers’ told her to come on here…wtf for?! so u can feel like ur getting ‘internet ass’….just to promote their own little business whatever it is and not actually for providing anyone with anything of real substance!
February 16, 2009 at 9:39 pm
I was checking different blogs and profiles for tips and came across this. What you said makes perfect sense. Thank you for expressing yourself and representing those that really are just trying to improve their bodies (and not trying to exploit themselves). Even when I do finally get my body where I want it, I won’t be posting pics of this sort.
February 16, 2009 at 9:54 pm
That these ladies need attention so bad is what I hate. And I don’t care how muscular you are, when you throw on a g string and post that s&^t, youre looking for attention. It’s just a skin to win contest plain and simple.
February 17, 2009 at 6:54 am
Totally agree! well put
February 19, 2009 at 10:53 am
Ms. Rock, amysuds is the exact person this blog addresses..i’ve seen her change her prof pic a dozen times in a 4 hour span - from cutting her lawn in heels and a skimpy bikini to wielding a hammer while wearing lingerie..
February 21, 2009 at 7:15 pm
Truth.
March 24, 2009 at 8:34 am
Amazing well needed blog JJ. Couldn’t agree more with you, not that the women aren’t beautiful but there should be a standard that should be meet prior to being in the top 6 in my opinion. This is not the site for girls to show off there breasts and butts unless it’s on a well sculpted body and some work/effort is visible. Now in Amysuds defense she obviously works her butt off and is here to help others do the same, when she takes those "fun" pics that’s exactly what she’s doing with it, having fun you can obviously see she works hard and plays hard. CT as well as buffmother and the list goes on….
April 16, 2009 at 9:50 am
Amen! I was thinking the exact same thing this last couple of months. Where is the tone and athletesism in any of these girls’ pics…??
April 16, 2009 at 10:10 am
Amen Brotha!!
Too many women on here trying to be more than just a sex symbol. I, and a lot of other men on this site give kudos to all these women that put in the same work as we do in the gym.
April 17, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I am with you on this topic. It is a damn a damn shame that they are putting up porno shots just to get into the top 6 profiles. i, like u, remember when the top profiles were actually fitness women. Times have changed. That is why i still communicate with some of the members i met on here a year ago, when things were different. And besides, if anyone gets made for doing the things you mentioned, i guess that means that it is true for them.
Being skinny fat with a big chest is not a fitness look. Having an ass shot with cellulite is not a fitness shot.
Thanks again JJ

FINALLY!!! I thought I was going to have to do this myself. lol Detour bring up a point, there are some sexier pictures (though professionally done) that are for fitness modelling purposes, but we all know that the ones we’re talking about aren’t those profiles. I’m tired of seeing the half naked shots, this isn’t a porn site. Show me a bicep flex in sweats and then I’ll take you seriously.
April 17, 2009 at 1:08 pm
Thank you! As someone new to natural bodybuilding, I get mixed messages from a serious resource for me to learn from all the way to "is this soft porn?"
Much appreciated that you put down in words what was formulating in my mind! It dirties up the site when this occurs.
April 17, 2009 at 1:17 pm
These "goal" seeking women need to be filtered by BodySpace as soon as they are posted. And we are in total agreement, where is the definition that they seem to forget is what obviously makes anyone say "hmm, she’s been working out". It is extremely easy to be thin and top heavy, but to call that "bodybuilding"is a slap in the face of common intelligence.
April 17, 2009 at 3:21 pm
I was mortified this morning to see my flabby progress pics on the main page…I felt like trash-boots in my bikini.
When my transformation gets my body to where I want it, I hope I don’t get my sense of self worth from a website. I love BB.com, but it’s for motivation and information, not whoring out one’s body.
Am I allowed to say that?
October 6, 2009 at 11:02 am
Well said couldn’t have put it better myself!
