leg day again

Leg day again and another PB

leg extensions 2 sets 10 @110lbs

hamstring curls 2 sets 10 @110lbs

leg press 3 sets 12 @ 265lbs, 350lbs, 350lbs

squats 5 sets 12,12,12,10 @ 200lbs, 220lbs, 242lbs, 253lbs, 265.5lbs
dead lift 3 light sets 12 @ 130lbs

I havn’t dead lifted for a while due to an injury so it was just to test the water today, I’ll up it a little next week and see how it goes but I’m not going to go crazy and start lifting what I used to, but again stoked on another pb on squats beating my previous best then beating that as well.

Leg Day= Jelly legs

You know legs are my weakest bodypart, they’re long and slim and I used to hate leg day and training them, but somewhere along the line a switch flipped and now i’t’s my favorite day, I really get a kick out of getting finished with a set and feeling dizzy or almost about to throw up because I pushed for that extra rep, you just don’t get that training any other bodypart. Anyway here’s what I did today

Leg extension 2x 12 @ 110lbs

Hamstring Curl 2x 12 @ 65lbs  (I pulled a hammy last week)

Leg press 4x 12,12,10,7 @ 265lbs, 350lbs, 440lbs, 508lbs

squats 4x 12,12,12,10 @ 175lbs, 200lbs, 220lbs, 242.5lbs

then I hobbled my ass down to the dvd store and had to hold on to the racks to stay upright,I’m getting stronger every week and all because I love Leg day.

So I’ve been kinda neglecting my shoulders recently and I’ve decided to address that issue

from now on I’ll be hitting chest on a monday, back on a tuesday, wednesday off, thursday I box and then train shoulders, friday legs, arms and muay thai, saturday and sunday off, I’ll try to post up the various routines as I get through them this week as I’m changing my training up a bit as well

I’ve been getting stronger on a seemingly weekly basis for about a month now, it seems that I’ve either really hit my training perfectly (which can’t be the case as I’m training in the wrong rep range for big strength gains) or I had more in the tank the whole time and just haven’t realised the full potential yet, I have maxed out on the bench at 220lbs but I keep getting more and more out of almost every other exercise  I do, so at the moment I’m very happy with my results, especially since size and mass is back on the increase

I know why, the Muay Thai course I’m doing is very high impact and I’m burning all the extra calories I take in. In fact my body fat % and weight have remained constant throughout this course which has another two weeks to run, I’ve been really enjoying the pad and bag work but I hate the circuit training that goes with it as I know this is robbing me of the gains I’m training for. Like I said though two weeks to go and then I’m just doing one on one Pad work with a coach so I can continue to develop the skills without using up my calories. I also have not been able to do any chest training for the past month due to the circuits. Strength wise I have been making gains in both my back workouts and my leg workouts so I’m pretty pleased in that repect

shoulder pain

So I’ve had a mild niggly pain in my left shoulder for a few days now, it’s very mild to the front and middle of my shoulder so I think it’s just a little rotator cuff tear from overdoing the shoulder and chest training last week (with boxing I ended up with 4workouts which hit my delts) so this week I’m taking chest and shoulder days off still doing the boxing though. I’ve been icing and performing light rotator cuff exercises and I also had a tiger balm oil rubdown last night (which was awesome) I’m expecting to be back at 100% real soon although while I’m boxing 2 nights a week I’m gonna drop the shoulder training (with the exception of rear delt training)

New Split

so with the Boxing/Muay Thai training 2 nights a week I’ve decided to change up my workout, the evening sessions work my legs chest and front delts pretty hard so from now on I’ll be following this split.

Mon- am Back. pm Boxing/Muay Thai

tues- am shoulders concentrating on rear delts

wed- am arms. pm Boxing/Muay Thai

thurs- am legs

friday am Chest.  pm Boxing/Muay Thai bag work

So today I’m basking the in warm afterglow of last nights boxing/Muay Thai training, I really enjoyed pulling the gloves back on after such a long time but it was very clear that there’s more than a little rust, my footwork was attrocious, Hand speed terrible and having never used my legs to strike before I wasn’t that confident in them, timing wasn’t that great either, the only good news is my jab was pretty crisp and I can still hit pretty hard. I’m going to use the next six weeks to cut a bit and harden up and then start another bulking cycle.

So, a quick revision to  my goals  was due as I had already hit my targets for a couple of them with just under a month to go My shoulders now measure 50 inches so I’m gonna try and gain another 2 inches before my birthday on the 4th of may, I only just started working shoulders last week so I’m pretty hopeful that I can make it or at least get close, I also hit the 15inch arms target so I’m trying for another half inch. wish me luck
