A look at May and a plan for June

May’s almost up, and I was thinking about how I did with my goals, and what I need to change in order to make June an even more successful month! :) Today marks my 20th workouts (yay to Redblokey and I for meeting our workout goal!), but my clean diet needs… a bit of work. ;) My cheat meals/refeeds this month have been HUGE. They are like… mini-binges!! The gorge-fests have counteracted the effects of my workouts, so I am still pretty much in the same place. Hehehehe. :D To be honest, I rather like the way I look right now. My bodyfat is certainly not at it’s lowest (beginning of April), and neither is my weight. But I have TONS of energy, I feel FABULOUS, and with clothes on, I feel I am probably looking the best I ever have! :) So May was probably a good month to stay pretty much same. :)

But I’m going to be in a bikini for a week in June (going to Mexico! :) ), so for 3.5 weeks, I want to shift my goal towards looking good in a swimsuit, not just in clothes. :) Which means bringing that bodyfat DOWN!!! Here’s my plan for how I am going to get there:

- Workout 6 days a week, Keep calorie range below 1500, and 1 cheat ITEM (not meal!) a week. Also, I am doing a small experiment with my diet. I like to workout early in the morning, but my breakfasts were weighing me down. So instead of eating oatmeal and eggwhites before my workout, I am just sticking to a cup of plain greek yogurt (f-a-g-e). I know most people recommend having carbs before a workout, but I’ve done that for months now, and I would like to see if I notice any positive changes having a breakfast that is not quite so carb-heavy. So a typical day of eating will look like this:

Breakfast- Plain Yogurt

PWO - Sweet potato, whey/casein shake

PWO2- 1/3 cup of oats, 5 egg whites, serving of PB2, steamed green beans

Dinner - 6 ounces of ground chicken breast, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, spinach leaves

Snack - 1 cup of yogurt, 1 serving of PB2, celery sticks

Prebed Snack- Chicken breast, 4 ounces OR 1 can of tuna, 1 teaspoon of olive oil

And the breakdown: 1303 calories, 172 grams of protein, 89 grams of CHO, 30 grams of fat, bringing the percentages to 53% protein, 28% CHO, and 19% fat. Hmmm. The calorie range seems low, but there are several little things throughout the day that I don’t count, and my refeed item will be mostly CHO based, so I think I’m good to go!

I will take a progress picture on June 19 (ugh!). I have avoided taking those dreaded bikini shots because I felt sooooo horrible about myself for days after I took them, but it helps keep me focused, and the bit of accountability I have really steers me in the right direction. :) So that’s my focus for the next little while!

I have to tell you guys about a small victory I had! :) I met some new friends! :) They are fellow gym-goers, and last week, we went out to lunch after our workout! I could NOT have been happier! :) I do not know if it is the type of friendship that will be deep and lasting, but it was SO much fun to be a girl, and enjoy the senseless, useless gabbing we did! I don’t think I stopped smiling for days!! :D I’m so lucky!!!! :)

And an update on umbrella dude. He is officially getting on my nerves. I no longer feel like being polite to him. He is starting to ask more personal questions like, “What’s your address! I want to send you flowers”. And “When will you be at the pool next? What time?”, and “Where will you be going after you workout?”. Invasive much?! My new strategy now will be to, 1) Not smile anymore, 2) Not make eye contact with him, 3) Keep answers short and vague, 4)Remind him that I am not interested in any sort of friendship/relation with him, 5)Run to my new gym buddies for protection and get them all to give him a weird look. LOL.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy! :)

Wow, 6 days a week and only one cheat item (not meal)? You are hard core! Can’t believe umbrella guy asked for your address for "flowers" already. I think "flowers" translates to "I’ll show up at your front door."

  2. bigjeff0065 Says:

I told you that you should have hit umbrella guy with pepper spray. From now on, if a guy offers to do something nice for you, just go ahead and spray him!

  3. Stormiorsini Says:

Oh girl that plan sounds good!! And YIKES on umbrella dude! He might be turning ’stalkerish’?? I’m with BigJeff…PEPPER SPRAY! That ought to fix him fast!!

Thats very exciting that you made some gym friends!! YAY JJ!! Your gonna look amazing by June 19th cause girl…you already rock out in your bikini!! Talk about being your own worst critic…i think you look fantabulous!!

I met my closest friends at the gym. Now we work out and party together. It’s great when you guys have something in common.

Diet is looking good. I can’t eat heavy before training. I usually have a shake and something light. Maybe a couple of scrambled eggs.

As for umbrella guy, he sounds like a stalker. Next time he’s checking you out, pick your nose and inspect it. That should scare him off. Or really turn him on.

  5. AfteraDream Says:

Go talk with that umbrella guy and tell him straight up that you don’t want to talk with him or do anything with him. If he’s smart, he will understand and leave. If not, then surely some friends coming over to him and telling him to stay away will be needed. But honesty should go first ;)

I’m so glad you made some friends!! I know you were aching for some girl friends :) I haven’t had a creepy guy bug me in quite a while, but I remember the feeling. I can’t help you though, cuz I never knew what to say/do either!!! ARGH!

  7. julofthenile Says:

I love reading your blogs, girl!!! and you will so rock that bikini in a few short weeks…I am thinking you should be able to drop about 6 pounds over that time or (fat…:) if there is any on your lil body… :) ummm umbrella boy needs to just be gone… ugh…sounds like he is following you…be careful

  8. pixiglittrpants Says:

Yeah, the umbrella guy definitely sounds a little creepy… remind him that you’re not interested?? You mean you already told him and he’s still saying stuff like that?? That’s definitely out of line… is there a guy friend at the gym that you can ask him to tell umbrella guy to back off?

As for the new friends - awesome!! Cultivating friendships is one of my favorite things, and I’m proud that you stepped out of your comfort zone and approached some peeps! Go Team JJanet!

Sounds like a smart plan diet-wise (so strict, much props to you!), and congrats on the 20th workout!! You rock, JJanet! :)

  9. dunkonu9 Says:

Oh you rock the bikini now so don’t sweat it. You look great in every pic and I am sure you are looking great right now. In the mean time keep your eye on the prize and make the most of your time until then.

unbrella dude well I would never say I told you so but well I did tell you so, I was saying give him a shot might be worth it but I think you have a stalker. Tell him that you are pretty sure your adress will be on the restaining order.

  10. CapitalJay Says:

Operation Bikini looks solid. Have you considered a pre-w/o shake rather than the yogurt?

Umbrella dud (no spelling error)- find a big guy who is "just a friend" and knows it to work out with. …or just talk with the staff at your gym and explain the stalkerish situation. The gym management is usually willing to help in certain situations. You shouldn’t feel stalked at the gym!!

  11. Barbell64 Says:

Wwo- first and foremost- umbrella dude scares me! Creepy for sure! Anyway- love your plan- reducing carbs now is the way to go to lean out! I’m with you though…I have been eating more carbs and have been stronger, more muscle, but alas, heavier…but feels great. Stepping up on my lean out program as well with mo’ cardio!!!

  12. Carlalton Says:

You do look great Janet, not sure i would worry to much about the % of body fat if you feel good and are healthy : ) As far as umbrella dude…. be carefull, u are a big girl and i am sure you can handle yourself, just be carefull and stand your ground.
