Lazy Bones

June 16, 2008

JFlex44

Ok, i stopped being lazy and worked out today, and it was pretty good, but the dieting is still an issue. I need more quick snack ideas.  Especially since i work nites.  I’m still trying to get an overall regime with eating and a workout routine.

late morning interval running

June 7, 2008

JFlex44

Today I did my first Interval run in over 6 months.  I was able to get out six completed sets before I was ready to lie in the dirt and gasp for a medic, so I’m proud of that.  But I also have a bad confession, last night at work the doctors bought pizza and fried chicken for everyone, and yes I did indulge.  I’m still getting a routine together; I plan on including squats and pushups.  So stay tuned, and thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement and support.

2nd Workout

June 6, 2008

JFlex44

In tonight’s workout it feels more so like I’m conditioning rather than working out.  I’m not fully satisfied with my efforts.  I push myself to failure which seems to come too quick.  After taking a 3 week hiatus from my workout I’m back to slow jog rather than a full run.  My weight lifting seems to have suffered a bit and I already feel the soreness from my break.  But with all this said I’m still going.  I have also run into a bit of a problem and wonder if anyone else out there has been through or is going through the same.  I write with my right hand and of course it is stronger.  When I workout out with the dumbbells I can’t complete my 3rd set because my left gives out, but I find I can keep going with my right.  Is there a remedy to this condition?

1st day, round 1

June 3, 2008

Today’s exercising efforts were below my standards, it’s my first day of my 12 weeks but, I am proud that I am off to a positive start.  I guess I was expecting superstar status the first time out of the gate, but in due time I will get there.  I did 30 minutes of cardio; walk/run mix.  3 sets of bench press, 2 sets of incline bench press, and 2 sets of barbell curls.  I attempted crunches, but it was only an attempt, I believe I need to lose more gut to get there.

Anyway, that was day 1.

A side Carb named desire

First off, let me apologize for the picture above, I realize how temptation can creep in, but this should also serve as a reminder of the current enemy target.

When you think of eating you think about a complete meal, you think of things such as steak, potato and maybe some broccoli or another example would be fish, spaghetti, garlic bread and green beans. The basic point I’m getting at is your meal consist of 3 basic categories; protein, vegetable and a carb. I go through plenty of recipes as a fan of culinary cuisine and not one time have I seen a dish that doesn’t include the simple sugar plate filler, and if you’re a baker then you might as well forget it, it’s the basis of your work. While on my quest for physical fitness I have made many changes to my eating habits, as I stated, my goal is to lose 25 lbs by September and I realize to do so I may need to drastically cut down the carbohydrates in my path. Now I have never been a fan of the Atkins diet, but maybe there is some wisdom behind that old man’s method of diet. I think the solution for me is to wean myself off the carbs until I can get to a minimal level of satiety. For now on I will include measurements in my weekly menu plan.
