Who knew???
I little while back I set a new goal for myself. I weight train regularly at the gym and do very little cardio. I started competing last year and I have been competing non stop. I did the Fame World amateur championship on June 15 and was supposed to compete again next week with the IDFA. However, I have been extremely tired and after seeing how worried my loved ones were I decided to give my body and the people I care about a break and to end my competition season with Fame.
I spoke to my coach who ordered 2 weeks off the diet and training and a year off competing in order to add some mass. Trust me the news was more than welcome but my family and friends. After a week off I was getting a bit bored so I decided to start working on another goal that I have. I promised the #1 person in my life that I would run 5k with him. I never ran more than 5 minutes before I met him so to me it was quite a challenge. During contest prep I would run for 15 minutes before each workout but it was all the cardio allowed. In between 2 comps I managed to run for 30 min but I could never improve my time. I made a deal with a friend of mine who teaches a running class that I would help her with her stage presence and walk if she helped me with my running. So this week-end I met up with her and we ran, she showed proper for and technique and we ran together for over 30 min. I went back on Monday to run on the tread and practice what she had showed me.
This morning I did the unthinkable, I ran outside. It’s a gorgeous day and I live downtown right by a mountain. The mountain is a runner’s paradise. For me it was hell!!!!! After 3 min. I realized that I wasn’t ready to run uphill yet so I turned around and went for downtown. I loved it! Who knew????? I think I might stick to this. I feel great during and after. It helps clear my mind and I feel amazing after.
Me, the girl who went from bitching when my coach gives me 10 min of warm up cardio instead of 8 a fan of running…

I love running outdoors, and hate those days I’m forced indoors. During the past winter, while I was training for the marathon I was only forced indoors twice. Good lluck racing your 5K. I’m sure you will excel.

Good luck on your new goal. I love running. I feel so good after a run & I’m sure you do too. It is addictive and fun, especially when outside. Before you know it, you’ll be running 10k and half marathons. You’ll do awesome, I know you will. Cheers.
