My layoff following major surgery is now over. Today I rode 12.47 miles, average speed 17.20, max 36, and felt great. Good wind and no fatigue. Can feel the strength returning to presurgical levels. Next this week is my first venture into the gym to face the weights and machines. Going light to start for a few weeks, of course. But it will feel good to get my hands on the iron again.

It’s encouraging to see the scales finally heading up, one or two pounds at a time, much of it water or natural fluctuation each day. But the trend it definitely up and that’s what I want. I can’t really hit the weights for another two or three weeks but I’ve been trying isometric work and long walks and that seems to be keeping the fat off. I hope I can get back to 200 and lower the bf. Waiting is hard.

It’s been frustrating to lose ground following major surgery in early July (I’m doing great, the problem has been cured, so they told me). Now I have to hold off until at least mid August to start up my workouts again. I’m doing isometrics and very light excercises, but the muscle mass went down along with those precious 15 pounds. I’m leaving my stats where they were pre-operation as a bench mark or goal to get back to. I want to restore things to where they were and, with work, gain even more muscle than I had, if possible. Thanks for all the encouragement. It’s appreciated.
