2nd day of BP

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Well, today was my second attempt at shaking the rust off of my swing. Took 4 turns of 50 swings w/ my partner and the most balls that got behind me in a set was 5. I will do better next week, but i am very proud of my showing. Last week it seemed like, every time i made contact i popped it up. This week however, Made contact often and hit line drives almost just as often. ALthough i still popped several up each set, the majority were line drives and hard grounders up the middle. I can still feel myself dropping my whole body to low pitches, and when i dont drop my body i drop my hands. UGHH! This practice was much more productive in that aspect. My hands generally stayed up and went straight to the ball.

Still excited for our team this year, everyone in Northern Michigan keep your eyes open for the Ironmen. Im not being cocky im just confident that if our guys stay healthy and motivated no one can stop us.

First day of batting prct.

Batting cage

well, today I went to the batting cage and swung the bat for the first time in almost 5 months…  I did terrible, its not that i dint hit most of them it is that the ones i hit were popped up. Last season i was dropping my body to the ball that problem is fixed but now it seems that i am dropping my hands to the ball! iy yi yi. oh well the regular doesnt start for another couple months, so i have plenty of time to work out the kinks in my swing.

Fielding

fielding is my passion, the glove in my hand, my cap tilted slightly up, knees bent, and all of my attention focused on that particular situation! I love it! mind boggling situations that can make or break the game, depending on how u play it. For me, that is what makes baseball such a lovable sport. in no other sport do u focus that intensly and at the same time staying calm.

My practice partner and i threw that ball around a lil bit after hitting in the cages. Im proud to say that iv not lost a beat in that portion of the game despite lifting heavy weights over my head for the last 2 months my arm felt extremely well. although im cutting the press movements over my head out of my routine. I really dont want to tear a rotator cuff.

Season

I cant wait until the season starts! this years team is going to be spectacular to say the least. Im not guaranteeing anything but from where i sit, our team looks to be a major contender the playoffs this spring. So anybody reading this, look out for the Ironmen!

Welcome!

ahhh, time to start hitting the weights and jumping on and off boxes to get ready for baseball season. This is my year, no one is getting in my way, i am going to train like a mad man, and be in the batting cage every chance i get. I am going to hit above a .350 this season, I am going to steal 30 bags this season, I am going to have a fielding pct. of at least .950 at second base, the last thing that I am personally going to do is, I am making an oat to myself right now that I will not strike out more than 15 times this season.
