Most people have no idea of
John Balik’s extensive background in the industry. This interview gives an insight to John’s “Renaissance Man” background, how the IRON MAN Pro developed, why and how the FitExpo became a reality, etc.
Shoot, I’ve been working for the guy since he and Michael Neveux bought the mag back in 1986 and I didn’t even know how involved John has been as a magazine publisher, promoter, bodybuilder, powerlifter, photographer, supplement salesman….well, you get the point. I met John many, many years ago when he visited Duncan YMCA in Chicago to train with Bob Gajda. I have been wanting for years to ask him if he could sift through some of the seventies files that Peary Rader had for Iron Man, and find out how I could contact the fellow who advertised JUDSON TORSO STRAPS and the JUDSON TORSO MACHINE in Iron Man. I used those devices and got GREAT results from them, but I can find nothing on the internet related to anyone named Judson or the Judson Torso Straps. The seller was located in Vancouver, if memory serves me correct. Could you ask John if he could see if he has any info on the guy who sold those devices?
Sincerely,
Herb April-chicago

Hey, I don’t kow if you remember me but I use to workout with you in your basement when you lived in Kew West Charlottesville. You made a great impression on me and I still pump it today at 51..You gave me some photos of Arnold and Ed Corney. How are Roxann and Roland?
