I'm Getting There

Things are happening for me in my fitness journey and I keep connecting with some incredible people. I have recently been featured on a blog called Female Fit Muscle featuring and supporting female fitness athletes. It is so rewarding to be featured on the site among so many other amazing women with similar goals! I also will be featured on a new website that will be focused on helping new comers to the fitness/body building competition world. The site is TBA until the official launch, but it will be very informative for anyone looking to compete and seeking reliable information on training, nutrition, show preparation etc. I am honored to be a part of it since I will be able to help others be a part of the experiences that have changed my life!

So much to be excited and thankful for at this time, that I could not help but share it! Fitness can change your life in ways you never thought possible and has helped me transform myself inside and out.

Happy Training Everyone :)

Keeping my eyes on the prize

So I keep working hard in the gym on a daily basis as well as keeping my mind set on my goals. I feel like I am doing what I can to train my hardest and stay motivated no matter what, but I must admit it is hard to keep believing in my dreams. One day I hope to be featured in Oxygen Magazine, that is when I know I've truly "Made It". Being in Oxygen would be the ultimate accomplishment for me and give me the opportunity to feel that I am reaching out to women across North America to share my story and inspire others to reach their health goals.

The question is how do I get there? I keep competing in shows, increasing my fitness and health knowledge and try to expose myself to as many opportunities as possible. My goal right now is looking for a sponsor for my next show in September. I think this would help with getting my name and face out there and build some real connections. If anyone has any advice I'm definitely open to anything that could help. I keep following my role models in the fitness industry (who are amazing women athletes!) and am truly immersed in this world.

I know there's many with the same aspirations as me but I never give up and dream big. One day I'll make it!

OPA Ottawa Classic Results!

This past weekend in Ottawa was an another terrific experience. I met many inspiring and amazing athletes at the OPA Ottawa Classic, which was part of National Capital Fitday. For this show I felt like I really nailed the pre-competition diet and preparation. Practicing the performance aspect for bikini really helped me improve my stage presence and comfort on stage. I had such a great time and was so fortunate to have my family there for support!!!

I ended up placing 3rd out of 8 competitors in the bikini short category, which I was very pleased with! I met my goal and now I'm ready to move on to new challenges! I qualified for OPA Natural Provincials in September which I will be competing in to qualify for the CBBF Nationals. I know I can do this and am recharged and motivated!

I will be taking a small "break" from competing for the summer, but will take the time to increase my strength and power. I'm still going to commit to eating clean and pushing through my workouts, but also trying new forms of fitness.

I am also starting to think and prepare for the UFE National Championships in November in the Fitness and Fitness Model Categories. So this means practicing my dance skills, choreographing a new routine and getting some new attire! The challenge will be increasing my strength and power while maintaining flexibility, but I know it is possible!

Well that's it for now! I am excited for the summer training season and all the new opportunities it brings. Enjoy the summer weather, get outdoors and get moving :)

10 Days Out of OPA Capital Classic

Only ten days out from the OPA Capital Classic in Ottawa! Excited? yes! Nervous? yes! Ready to rock the bikini short category? yes! I am feeling confident about my physique improvements from my last show in April and just need to get through the final stretch now!

The workouts have been tough and I have been pushing hard which has left me feeling a bit nauseous during and after workouts. This last week will be crucial, but it is all about keeping close to that line of maintaining muscle while scorching the last few lbs of body fat before the big day. I will be doing a 3 day carb depletion then the day before I will carb up. I'm going to try and eat more like a show day diet the day before this time with only 500ml of fluid, rice cakes, protein (chicken and eggwhites), soynut butter, a bit of fruit and no veggies. We shall see how this goes this time around because in previous shows my physique looked best the day after the show!

So only a few days of weight training remaining then light weights and cardio. The diet brain will kick in soon which is always fun haha It's all part of competing! Hardcore or nothing!!! I'm just about to try my homemade protein bars to get me through the weekend. yum!

I'll keep updates on the pre-show prep and the trainer will give the final words on body composition this Monday! fingers crossed***

Keep eating clean and training dirty!
