New Goals

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I just got new orders yesterday.  I’m deciding to change my goals to something else given the time constraint and the fact that I am trying to get a Ranger slot by the end of this year following Sapper (this, too, is not set in stone) around August.  In order to do optimally at Sapper and Ranger, I’m going to have to set goals that center around cardio, legs, pushups, and situps rather than gaining weight.  I’ll update them in my Bodyspace soon, when I get some extra time.

Some extra time…

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

After getting disappointed by Oklahoma’s coaching staff and the entire officiating staff, I decided to stop watching any TV tonight.  Luckily, I lifted prior to the game so I didn’t lose any energy or motivation from the sad loss.  This is my 4th day lifting this week.  I love the feeling and the pump it gives me; I can’t believe I ever stopped in the first place.  I’ll be on the road a lot tomorrow driving back to my apartment from my parents’ so I don’t know if I will be able to fit anything in, unfortunately.  I figure if I can’t get to the gym before it closes tomorrow, I’ll go ahead and do some push-ups and dips so I get some type of exercising in.  Boring post, I know, but just wanted to update that this week has been great and my body is feeling awesome.  Eating enough has been a challenge, but once I’m at my apartment I’m sure it will be easier.  Goodnight everyone, and take care.

A New Year, A Grown-up Beginning

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Just started lifting again.  I was off and on last year, so I didn’t make any noticeable gains.  I would do well for a couple weeks, and then take a month off.  Pitiful.  Now I’m going to change my quitting streak and stay on course.  I have a lifting, diet, and rest plan all worked out.  In a week, I start my new cushy job that leaves plenty of time to get into shape before I go to 22+ weeks of intense physical training in May.

So my goals are simple.  Gain 10-20 lbs before I leave in May by exercising 6 times a week.  This is GONNA work!  It’s got to.  In the past, I’ve attained (or came at least close to) my short-term goals and then quit.  This time I’m not going to live the lifestyle for 1, 2, or even 3 months.  I’m going to live the lifestyle that makes me best at what my job demands of me and still continue to re-evaluate and strive towards other goals.  The time for acting like a child is over.  Now I’ve got to grow up and act like an adult by setting goals and following them through and through.

PS. On a side note, I’m going to start training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu again.  I figure it is another aspect to physical well-being that can help me become a better soldier.
