12 week plan

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

So Monday starts my 12 week plan to a 40lb loss.  I kinda started a couple of weeks ago, but I knew I was going to Vegas on vacation and would indulge.  That’s why I wanted a solid two weeks under my belt.  As I sit here at the airport here in Vegas, I’m trying to decide whether or not to start tomorrow so I can hit the groung running come Monday, OR do I cheat the rest of the weekend and start from scratch Monday?  I’m thinking tomorrow is the best bet!

Food intake and such..

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

7/21:  3 eggs, 3tbs of egg whites, protein drink, unsalted peanutes, protein shake, protein sjake, e lean turkey burgers, 1 cup of brown rice, protein drink, fruit smoothie - 2431 cals, 290 protein

Today I did my chest workout and went pretty heavy; 3 sets of 10 with everything.  Only got in a 45 mintue walk on the treadmill for cardio today.

7/22:  3 eggs, 3tbs of egg whites, 1 cup brown rice, 1 turkey burger, protein drink, grilled chicken breast, 1 cup brown rice, chicken, protein shake, protein shake, 3 turkey burgers, 1 cup brown/white rice, protein shake - 2786 cal, 345 protein

Today, I didn’t hit the weights.  In my first workout, I did interval cardio on the bike and ab work.  Then I played a mean game of bball with the kids I mentor.  In my second workout, I ran/walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes.

July 18, come and gone

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Yes, the date as come and gone.  I didn’t quite reach my goal, but the ironic thing is, someone said something to me that ignited the fire again!  SO, to prove the critics wrong, I plan on losing AT LEAST 40 lbs between now and Oct. 24.  I’m going to try to detail my journey as much as possible here in blog form.  Stay tuned.

Staying focused

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

I’ve stayed focused since my last post.  I’m working hard and eating right.  In the gym, this week and next I’m trying to slow my reps down drastically and really feel the muscle work.  I’ve been taking about 6-8 seconds for each rep, and 8-10 reps a set.  I’m keeping my cardio up, doing 1.5 hours, 4 days a week.  And I do a TON of different things for cardio, so it’s never the same.  Diet has been good.  I’m watching my calories and keeping my protein high.  More than anything for me, it’s mental.  I just have to realize that everything takes time, and anything worth having is worth putting the work in for and taking the time to complete.
