I’m trying to eat perfectly clean 4 days in a row, and have one day off each week.  So 4 days on, one day off.  I’ve done well the last couple of weeks….Any thoughts or suggestions?

The other day, my cousin came over to visit.  We’ve always been very competitve every since we were kids growing up.  He’s the only person that I’m really all that competitve with.  He was telling me how he needed to lose some weight, and challegned me to a weight loss contest the goes until the end of March or April.  The winner gets $100, but more importatly bragging rights.  Though I’m excited for anyone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle, I took it as a personal insult for him to think he can compete with me when it comes to this.  He’s always made light of all the work I did, and the way he presented it was like, "any fool can do this".  Little does he know, he’s fueled my fire to the highest level in quite some time.  I put him on blast today at Chrsitmas and annouced to the enitre family how not only will I beat him, I will CRUSH him.  I’m more motivated than I’ve been in awhile.  I absolutly REFUSE to lose to this guy!  However, I love him and wish him the best!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so here it goes!  Training has been going pretty good.  I’ve been keeping my intensity pretty high, been consistent with my cardio, however, the diet is still a challenge.  I do pretty well during the week days, while in my everyday routine, however, once Friday hits, things usually fall apart.  Not to mention that college football has been on, so there has been ample time/excuses to cheat on my diet.  As a result, once the next week comes along, I’m usually a couple days or so behind.  A couple of weeks ago, I went 6 days straight of clean eating, and I saw in just that small amount of time the difference it makes in yor body and training.  So far this week, I’ve done well too.  Another problem for me has been alcohol.  I LOVE going out with my buddies, usually on Fridays, and we more than indulge in beer (light), mixed drinks, and shots.  I know that alone damages my chance to experience maximum results, but then add that in with the inconsistent diet….well, you get the picture!  Nevertheless, throughout all of this, I have continued to see results.  I sit back and reflect on how much further along I’d be had I kept clean eating, but I still have seen good results.  I’m starting to see seperation on my shoulder complex, veins are starting to appear in different places, and I’m seeing seperation at other parts of my body.  Also, I’ve increased my cardio from 30 min to 90 mintues at least 4 days a week for the past 3 weeks.  I’m toying with the idea of trying this training program a personal trainer friend of mine at my gym has suggested.  If I do it, I’ll have to cut back on the cardio, probably back to 30 minutes, maybe even 20.  we shall see.  And even though I’m pleased with my results thus far, I think I have to be a be realistic.  I don’t think I’m going to reach my goal of a topless summer his year, but I’m still going to train like hell to try!
