Day 29 of The Cut 08

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Things are still going quite well, I’ve stuck to the diet exactly except for a small gatorade that I drank two days ago. (It was very hot and I was really feeling the carb deprivation!)

I am still seeing visible results every 3 or 4 days - I am thinking that by mid August I will have the top four abs pretty defined.  I think I will have to really fight for the last two, they don’t look like they are going to show up without a lot of struggle! (I am hoping that the napalm will help with that last bit). I have upped my cardio to a half hour every night after about an hour weight session (that gives me 5- 30 minute seesions a week).  I am laying off the leviathan for a few days so that it will keep its effectiveness.  The diet is getting easier to stick to, I don’t really have to think about it anymore, so that’s nice.  My strength has decreased somewhat, but I have switched over to doing 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps..I’ve read a lot of material that discusses the pros and cons of high rep versus low rep…but let me tell you that the high rep stuff is exhausting and burns way more!  Going to failure with 225 on the bench and landing in there around 7 or 8 reps feels easier than holding on to 185 for failure on the 16th or 17th rep! The pumps have been awesome though.  I was probably in need of a good workout change up to shock the muscles anway…

Day 24 of The Cut 08

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

It turned out I was correct in taking the day before yesterday off, I felt refreshed yesterday and had an awesome back workout and just DESTROYED my abs, and followed it up by a half hour of cardio.  My diet was easy to stick yesterday as well.  It’s so hard to take a day off once you get in the routine, but it seems like it can really pay off if you actually need one!

I finally weighed last night, I came in at 202, I didn’t weigh before beginning the cut..so I don’t have a real solid starting point, but my weight had flucuated around 210.  I am guessing that if I weighed in the morning fasted I would be around 198 or 199?  That seems like good progress to me as I started loading creatine when the cut began, so I should also be retaining some water weight, as well as from the yohimbine in Leviathan (Yohimbine causes a bit of water retention).  Despite those factors, I am looking slightly leaner every week in the mirror, and I think as I step the cardio up during July that I should start making very rapid progress.  Near the end of August I am thinking I should see some decent abdominal cuts.  I’m trying to go at this in a very methodical way so I don’t melt off too much muscle mass - though I realize that some will probably be sacrificed.

Day 23 of “The Cut 08″

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Day 23 is here, I still have not yet broken down and eaten (or drank) anything that is not on my diet.  It has been the same protein bars, eggs, chicken, veggies, protein shakes, and beef.  I am starting to lean out a little - of course not as fast as I would like… but I think it’s time to step the cardio up to the next level.  So far I have just cleaned my diet up, switched to a higher rep wight routine, and started taking Novedex, Activate and Leviathan.  I took yesterday off from the gym, it was back day but I was really feeling tired - I think that I was creeping into an overtrained state and just needed a day off and an extra hour or two of sleep.  (Keep in mind that I’m pulling 12+ hour shifts in the desert!) I think it paid off, as I feel much better today.

On another note, I have also ordered ‘napalm’, (thank God for APO’s!) I will be using it in concert with my morning cardio after my leviathan runs out.

Update pictures will be coming up on the first and the fifteenth of each month starting July 1.  Im going to find those abs!  They are under there damnit!

The Cut - Summer ‘08

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Okay summer is back, I’m deployed, and I want those abs that I’ve never had.  So far I am twenty days into a cut, I’ve been upping my cardio each week, and continuing to hit the weights.  I’ve added Leviathan Reloaded and Novedex XT as well as Activate to my usual supplement arsenal of protein/creatine/multi.  My diet for the last 20 days has been a ground hog day of:

1. Zero impact bar at 4 am

2. 4 boiled eggs at 7 am (One or two days a week I eat a few strips of bacon with this meal)

3. 2 chicken breasts, 1 cup rice, mixed veggies 1130 am

4. zero impact bar 3 pm

5. Beef/Chicken, mixed veggies 6 pm

6. Syntha-6 Protein shake 9 pm

I am determined to make this cut a better effort than last years…as you can see last year’s cut didn’t last long by the postings below!

Stay Tuned…
