Thank you Figure Females!

May 22, 2009

I’ve been cruising around and a bit of the posts I’ve seen fall into one of several categories: A) I’m so great B) I’m so fat or C) I’m so frustrated.

Yeah I can understand that. Luckily even the "I’m so great" moments are pretty temporary.

I just have a casual observation…the bodybuilding community is friggin’ awesome to us poor little newbies!

The last female competative venture I went in on was figure skating. Drama drama drama! Politics politics politics! Gee, no surprise that I didn’t stick around for that sport too long.

To all involved in bodybuilding and especially the lovely ladies of figure, a very heartfelt THANK YOU. You guys and girls are great. Its been a very welcoming experience where we can ask you guys anything and networking is surprisingly rather easy!

On behalf of us little new people, again thank you for your help and inspiring us to stick with it and kick ass at it so that one day we may have experience/knowledge worth passing on to someone else the way you helped us out.

::Good karma for everyone :-D ::

Feeling more encouraged! Seeing a promising of future abs under a decreasing layer of fluff, motivated in and out of the gym by my team, seeing performance increases during company pt in the morning, maintaining some of the lowest body weight ever, and finally have an accurate body fat percentage to work with.

I am begining to feel more confident as far self perception/positive body image. My team has a lot to do with that. On my most girly/retarded day I can get frustrated and say something stupid like "Oh I’m such a fatass…blah blah blah.." My guys fire back with something along the lines of, "Yeah, but your our fatass. No seriously shut up, it’s your turn to lift." No exscuses, no alibis, no special treatment. I couldn’t be in a better place.

What we do in the gym is starting to make long term changes in what I do outside the gym. Its no longer a conscious effort to stay away from crappy processed food, it just doesnt appeal to me much anymore. Instead of being just another task I have to accomplish my workout is becoming one of the highlights of my day.

October is constantly in my mind. I’m nervous and excited. My family is twice as excited and three times as proud as I am. They too have altered the way we do things.

Easter and my birthday just recently passed and I got a BUNCH of stuff mailed from my family. NONE of it was candy or food because they are trying to make sure they aren’t pulling me off of my program. Considering we are Italian and Portugues this means a lot! Culturally and as a family we tend to reach for food in times of comfort and also as a sign of affection. In order to support me my family is having to redefine our dynamics a bit. How awesome is that?

A tiny glimmer of results!

April 13, 2009

Well today was already an emotional roller coaster. When I weighed myself at the gym on Friday I was only like 0.6oz over the alloted max weight for my age/height. This was a pretty big deal for me since I’ve had to be taped to determine body fat percentage every single time with the expection of the day after I came back from having mono..lol!

I weighed in at 135 this morning and was freaking THRILLED! Too bad they screwed up my height and ripped me off almost an inch and a half. I’m five foot freaking two people! I haven’t grown since high school, trust me I know how small I am!! Ugh!!

Luckily I very nicely told another NCO who had not measured me that that stat was full of shit and can we please measure my height again. Wow, holy crap! I’m 5′2". Who would have guessed that I was right?!?   ::idiots!::

So yeah, I have only been lifting four to maybe five days a week and honestly rather half-assed in the amount of work it takes to be show prepped but after the PT test this week it is on like Donkey Kong! All three of us have been taking it a little light so as not to have injury/muscle fatigue for the APFT while our platoon is on major blast. Troubleshooting.

Also sometime this week the three of us should be putting in leave requests to as to be able to hit the Olymipia show in Vegas! Woohoo! Vegas+bb show+Team Awesome+vacation time= Oh sweet Jesus, someone protect the pedestrians :-D
