Need some advice and an update

August 3, 2009

Well, working hard still and seem to be making progress but not sure will find out when I do the bodpod again here in about 10 days. I have reached the 200lb mark and I seem to be floating all around it. with about a 4lb swing from 198 up to 202. However my measurements keep shrinking. So I am assuming this means I am adding muscle and losing fat, atleast I am hoping. Would like to hear from some of you who have been at this longer and may be able to give me some input on this.

Also wondering if any one had any tips for strengthing one’s grip?

As far as an update all lifts are  getting stronger. Weight is what I stated above. Hoping to be posting pics in the next couple days. Camera decided to go on the fritz right now. I am now A.C.E. certefited PT and about to pick up my first true client (one that pays). Will be starting school back as well here at the end of the month. Knocking out some prereqs so I can apply for Pyhsical therapy school next year.

July 1

July 1, 2009

Back on at full speed. Diet and training in full effect again. Down a 1lb. Looking forward to next weeks weigh in to see if things are responding like they are suppose to. Have cardio/ core 4 days a week with lifting 3 days a week. Total body for the next three weeks then going to split days to help focus back in on areas that are still lacking.

Back in the water every day as well. Been awhile since I have been back in the pool this much. Trying to make sure I don’t over do it on my shoulder. Only swimming about 400yds in 1600-2500yds per session. Most of it kick and hypoxic work. Also going at a slow pace taking about 30-60 mins to complete a sesssion. Hard to believe I use to do 10,000-16,000yds in a practice. Hope the swimming will also speed along lat and tricep development for me.

Will be finally getting pics and new stats up tonight. Will start logging lift sessions again on here to help track progress as well.

Keep you all posted on how things go.

Another Month goes by. . .

June 22, 2009

Well been another month and seem to be getting stronger still, but finding myself frustrated. Weight loss has come to a stop. Holding right at 200-203lbs.  Slide under 200 every now and then but just cant get the drop going again. Finding this time of year hard to stick with a diet, as my daily routine has become much more chaotic.

Also I have not had a solid training program set up in weeks. Trying to reset myself and get back on track and push harder and add more cardio back into sessions. Still trying to hit the 185-190lbs mark by Sept.

Wish me well.

Been awhile

May 21, 2009

Just realized I have not been on site for almost a month now. schedule has been crazy as i have closed down the store I own and moved strictly to online. Also headed back to school for a masters in Physical education (exercise and sports science).  However I have continued well with working out and eating right. Still floating right around 200-205 for the last month or so.  Going to to cut back cals to where they were when I was losing last time as my metabolism as kicked in and I am now eating somewhere around 2500 cals just so I don’t eat my arm off. Will have to knock out about 300-500 a day off that.

Hope to be posting picks soon as I have not done this in awhile and there is certainly a difference that can be seen at this point. Looking forward to new goals I am setting for August and really trying to lean out over the next couple months. That way I can use the Fall as a bulk season if I feel I need to in August.  Will be going for my second bodpod then as well. Fighting the urge to go now and see what I have been able to do in teh last three months. I was at 28% in Feb. Hoping to be around 13% in Aug. Figure I am somewhere in between right now probably still on the high side of around 22%. Need to get my weight around 185 to really lean out I think. Hoping to hit 195 by the 4 of July.

About to start back swimming as the pools are just opening here. Already been on my bike several times and love it. However I now have the itch for a road bike and don’t really need to spend $1200 on bike and equipment right now. Will see how work goes over the next little bit and then decide what to do on it.

This should catch anyone who is checking in on me up. If I left something out I will try to fill in over the next few posts. Pics should be up Mon. I think as well.

Weight Loss

April 1, 2009

Well hit my first short term goal on weight loss since joining the site and did it two week sooner than what I was hoping for. went from 215 to 204.6lbs. Next on the list is to try and hit the 185 mark by June 1. If things continue as they have I should be right on track.

Note on diet: I have found this much easier this time around and part of it is thanks to the many people on here that I read about and learn little tidbits from. So thank you to all who keep me inspired and learning. Also I found that diet is just that what i eat to maintain my way of living not a restriction of food or denial of things I love to eat. It is about balance and moderation. I eat anything I want I just have to count it for the amount of calories that it is. Also if you do a little bit of planing you are able to eat what ever it is you want. Just remember to have a portion size not three. I have also increased my fluid intake with water. i have always been one who stays well hydrated but the majority of the time I was drinking deit drinks or ice tea. As I know consume atleast a gallon of water a day I have found this to help a great deal with times that I may be hungry and there are no good options around to eat. As a side note here there are many crystal light or other knock-off brands to flavor your water if you find it too boring to drink. These have been a true life safer for me and if you like mint try ordering a glass of water next time you are out and get some mint to put in it.

Just a few thoughts and thanks again to all you.

Love/Hate this time of year.

March 25, 2009

This time of year is a love/hate relationship for me. I love the weather as it begins to warm up and all I want to do is be outside and enjoy it. However this is also the season in which everything starts to bloom, in particular grass. My allergies flare up and I end up with a sore throat i just can’t shake. That is where I am at this point. Because of this I have taken the front half of this week off from the gym to try to let my body rest and recoup. I always find this fatigues me.  Still doing well on diet however and down another 1.5lbs. Slowly but surely I am making a change and getting my weight back where it should have been the whole time. Trying to hit 205 by April 15 and 185 by June 1.  I think I have April in the bag. June 1 and 185 not so sure about.

Weight and Workout

March 18, 2009

Well down another pound this week. So I am on the right track with the diet and I have to say it really isn’t a deit. I eat and drink just about everything I want. Even had a sliver of cake for my dad’s birthday and a guiness for St. Patrick’s day.  All I do is watch my protions and keep my caloric intake around 2200. I also eat about 40% of that in protein and 40% in Carbs, 20% from fat.

Changed the workout routine as well last week to a 3day split and I have been loving it. I irritated my bicep tendon in my bum shoulder so yesterdays shoulder workout was missed. However today is leg day and I can’t wait to get in the gym and workout. Also I am uping my cardio this week. I had been doing it 5 days a week when doing 3 total body lifts. However since doing the split I am looking at doing it 4 days. This should help shed the pounds off as well. Overall I have to say that I will take a 1lb loss even if it takes a little longer to get where I want to be.

Psyched!

March 13, 2009

Have to say I am completely Psyched about my new workout routine. I am doing a 3 day split and it has been going great. Leg day was even better than i thought it was. I have that wonderful feeling of being sore whenver I change positions. I find that I really can focus hard on an area and just pound it out and really fatigue it the way it needs to be. I am seeing some subtle changes in this first week on how the pump is better post workout as well.

Also I am still losing weight. This is great news as I had ice cream when up at the Arnold this past weekend. As I know one thing won’t throw it off and I did eat clean while there. Trying to keep some track of the samples that I took through the expo. Guess i did alright. Shooting for 205 by April 15 and 185 by June 1. Looking at picking back up the cardio first thing next week to help increase calorie deficit.

Wanted to include just this side note that I find now when I am headed to the gym I get that super excited feeling. I just can’t wait to start lifting and get the pain going. I haven’t experinced this since I was lifting back in Highschool. I found my self Wed. before my leg workout just smiling at the pain that was about to come while doing some light stretching. I know it is kind of sick to take such pleasure in creating pain for yourself. But I have to say it is fun! I am sure many of you know what I am talking about. That latic burn that sets in and you squeeze out one rep and then go for one more. I just love it.

Hope everyone else out there can find this kind of fun like I have. Happy Lifting!
