High intensity versus high volume… which is better?
Monday, October 1st, 2007It’s a very good question to ask isn’t it, is there an answer? Well here, lets think this out for a moment, people show success on both sides right? This is true as well, but lets look at today’s bodybuilders or weightlifters in general, they are aware that everyones’ body is different and experimentation is the only way to find what type of lifting or exercise suites their body the best. Keep in mind that nowadays to weightlifters both is actually a great concept. The differences between the two are very dramatic and wouldn’t it be great to harness the strengths of the two? Powerlifters today, to build strength use very low reps with moderatly high volume and in some cases more or less but that is how raw strength is built most successfully. Bodybuilders, to get max definition use relatively high reps when doing high intensity or volume sets alltogether. Now, I intend on finding out for myself if the two can be used together for maximum gains year long. I used to use high volume and varied the reps very much and saw moderate gains. On the other hand as i just started using high intensity training very recently my weights have increased and i have lost body fat pretty dramatically in the first two weeks. I have in front of me another 10 weeks of high intensity training for which im very excited to see the results. But after, i plan on doing high volume exercise again just to see how my body reacts to it. Im on my way to find out which of the two powerhouses of exercise will work for me, but do you know which will work for you?
