It’s been about a month now that I have ended a long relationship and working out is the only thing that helps. Not only helps, it gives me the strength physically and mentally to face each day and work towards my goals. I feel as if I am finding my true self and I don’t think I could ever quit exercising in my life. It is a true gift that you give to your mind, body and soul….o and it makes me feel damn good : )

Just ended a 3 1/2-4 year relationship and I feel lost about what to do. I definitely don’t want to date. I just can’t imagine anyone else in my life. I still feel like I am his. He was very well known around the area for being a huge bodybuilder and everywhere I go people ask me about him. It’s hard to let go of someone when everything and everyone reminds you of him. I have a feeling that won’t stop for awhile….
I do feel good about the fact that the little bit of free time I have I can do things I want to do…like work out! I hit it hard the last few weeks and I am doing active things with my friends. I just went rock climbing and it was a great workout. Planning on hiking more and trying to run more.
Everything happens for a reason and I feel that this will lead me to discover more about myself and to work hard on my goals. It’s so important to keep in mind what you want in life and your goals. Here are mine:
1. Work out 5 times a week and achieve BF of 18% and weight of 140-145.
2. Have slim cute legs.
2. Build strong relationships with my family and friends.
3. Ace all of my insanely hard classes in college and become a Physical Therapist.
4. Be healthy my entire life and be happy.
5. Find my soul mate and spend the rest of my life with him and raise a wonderful family.

I moved into my new home in June with my new roommate and her dog. No, it’s not the roommate thats hairy…well maybe a little but not as much as Cal. Cal is a beautiful 130 pound, 7 foot tall on his hind legs, black and grey spotted Great Dane. It has been great living with him because I have someone to run with and I can run at night now because I feel safe. He also is one heck of an alarm system.
I think it is such a win-win situation because I get to love him and play with him as my own and not have to pay a single doctor’s visit or 5 lb bag of dogfood! It’s great!
Living with these two "roommates" (he qualifies as a roommate), has kept me more active. At the moment we are going to run at the park and I just love it!
On a side note: I am so sore from hitting it hard the last 3 days, I cannot move without having a muscle hurt somewhere. I have been taking Pure Whey protein shake after working out and that has all the amino acids I need, but I don’t seem to be recovering as fast as I would like to. Any tips to recover faster?

I have been gone for 3 weeks because I couldn’t do everything while in my 5 weeks, 4 credit hour biomedical class. Studying 7 to 8 hours a day plus juggling two jobs AND working out doesn’t mix so well. Every free second I got, I was doing HIIT at the track, biking, or rock climbing. The actual gym didn’t get much loving.
But I am back! The next month is all I have of my summer and I am going to try to spend most of it in the gym and outside between working 3 jobs. (I picked up another one) O Yay!
I posted my body stats today and a few progress pics (or regress) to get me going again.
Thank you everyone for your support!

I was in my biomedical class today and I solved this myth…it’s true! Only certain capillary beds can be open at a certain time and after you eat, blood is used in your digestive track. An insufficient about of blood is supplied to your extremities which means less ATP and less energy.
So it is true….wait 30 minutes.

I know the bodybuilding staples and I know them well. I also did them for
4 months and didn’t get anywhere super great. These past 2 weeks I have been moving and haven’t ate very much, little meat, no protein shakes and only a few meals a day. Anything that I do eat though is natural and fresh. No bad food. I know awful right? Except I have lost weight…..and not muscle. I mean I have lost fat. About 5 pounds of it. Maybe this is how my body works. Maybe the real goal is trying something different and finding out how YOUR body works, not every other bodybuilder in the world. I am not reccommending this for anyone else, I am just saying that this is working for me. I do plan to eat more regularly and include more protein, but I am going to stay on the same path I am and see if there really is something to this or if my body just liked something different for a change.
Hmm we shall see.

Man, this has been hard! I am working two jobs. I usually work from 9 to 3 at one job and 4 to 11 at the other job….plus I am trying to move. It seems impossible to work out and I am only getting in about 3 or 4 workouts a week. I start my summer class this next week and I feel like my lifestyle is slacking at the moment. My roommate already sold my appliances so I have no where to cook or keep fresh veggies. Killing me!!!!

I have been back in the gym with my boyfriend instead of on my own and he really helps me work hard. He is always helping me with perfect form and spotting me for that last one. It is so great! I had a question about perfect form on reverse flys and I was nervous about him helping me in front of all of his extremely fit friends. I didn’t want to be that girlfriend to show weakness and I didn’t want to look like it was my first day in the gym. He was supportive though and helped me realize that everyone has questions and the most important thing is to be strong and just learn. He spends time to help me! Why would I be stupid and make it difficult to let him? I learned a lesson…..let those that want to help, help you! I had to get over my insecurities and let him help me. It paid off.
Men: always support your girls in the gym. What they learn and the confidence they gain will benefit you tenfold.
Have a good day : )
