The new routine is going well.

It has been a while since my last post.  I was just about to start an off season training routine back in October 2007.  Well the training has gone well as well as the eating and I was able to put on a good deal of size over the last 5-6 months.  I managed to keep my bodyfat the same throughout the process too.  Well around 5 weeks ago I started my contest prep for my show in August, a long prep period, 19 weeks in total.  I started around 17-18% BF and I have just had it measured and I am lying at 13.49%.  This great news for three reasons.

1). I am completely on track for the show.

2). I have done no cardio and I will continue to do no cardio.  Not a fan and I lost too much size before my last show.  Just going control my diet and continue to train heavy and stay between 1-12 reps.

3). I have only lost about 2lbs in weight.  Awesome stuff.

I have been working with my friend who is a strength and conditioning coach and we have devised a workout plan, which has been going great.  We believe that as a natural, the body can only take so much punishment in one session.  So we have gone from working one bodypart once a week, old prog was:

Mon: Chest and Bi’s; Tues: Legs; Thurs: Shoulders, Traps, Tri’s; Fri: Lats, Lower Back and Rear Delts

to working an upper/lower body split:

Mon: Max Effort-Upper; Tues: Rep Effort-Lower; Thurs: Rep Effort-Upper; Fri: Max Effort-Lower.

Doing it this way we have been able to stimulate (not annihilate) the muscles twice a week going through the whole rep ranges from 5-12 in week 1, 3-12 in week 2 and 1-12 in week 3 then start new cycle.  We believe that as a natural, the body can only take so much in one session.  So doing to much (annihilating) and then having a week rest before training the body part again would be counter productive.

If you would like more information on the way I have been training, feel free to message me.  It has worked really really well and I am finding it hard to find reasons as to why I would go back to a routine of one bodypart a week.

As usual, train hard and I will keep you posted on my progress  up to my comp.

Harry
