OBESiTY

My GI exam for nursing school is this coming Monday. So far, I just read 68pg and I am beginning to understand my problem with losing weight. Like many, I was plagued w/ “I’m already fat, who cares,” as Steph previously printed, syndrome  Confused My book says that lack of motivation is a HUGE barrier to change. That’s probably my biggest need, for a change another person cheering/pushing me hard bec for many years all I heard was the negative. Hugs to Taz for being my 1st cheerleader!
It’s weird that I am now understanding the huge importance of behavior modification & its correlation to weight loss maintenance. Everyone knows losing 10# is easy; it’s the keeping it off that’s difficult.

“It helps if obesity is viewed as a chronic condition that necessitates day-to-day attention. Often, eating is the result of bad habits picked up with time & not of hunger. The bad habits must be changed or weight loss will only be temporary. The more restrictive the regimen, the greater the demand for intense discipline in the face of an intense desire to eat foods not allowed on the diet. A successful weight control requires long-term behavioral changes.”

How weird that it took school for my light bulb to turn on brighter? The more I see sick patients, the more I don’t want to be there if I can prevent it.
So, as soon as I got home from the library, I PP for day 35: CX w/o YOGA, ARX, L&B!!! Yep, all three & i feel soooo good! danananananana*singing

  1. NickSmith3 Says:

Cudos to you on getting in a training session after learning that today.

And yes a lot is phsychological.

It needs to start with getting rid of the idea that you can eat ‘junk’ and get away with it.

The old saying goes, ‘you are what you eat’

All the best for the future :D
