Learning how to photograph myself

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

It is amazing. Today after running for 45 minutes, 10 km latter wanted to know how much of my muscle has changed, took two pictures, one is of my biceps, the one I’m using in my avatar picture since today, and one of my torso.  How hard this can be?
I will be honest, it was impossible, never happy with the end result, the most incredible experience of these two pictures is that I was feeling exhausted, yesterday I go out for surfing, today I was suppose to go and race the Powerade Challenge.  Did not work like that.  Did not feel like I wanted to run this race, being ready, that make me feel sad, I choose to run today as fast as I could, no reason for, just that.
Torso Picture
Don’t know how I can see other’s and still not being happy with my own body.

Heart Rate Monitors and training

Monday, August 6th, 2007

I’m currently training for a half marathon, on Sunday I have of course my long run.  Since the Powerade Challange(1) or Reto Powerade in Spanish has two long hills I choose for the last two months to do hills work-out as well and polish speed in the track.

Well here are two results that should clear (at least I don’t have any doubt) any doubt if using a heart rate monitor work or not for training.

07/29/2007

  • Started: 09:59, Duration: 02:24:02
  • Heart Rate: Max: 160 bpm / 90%, Avg: 145 bpm / 82%
  • In Zone: 01:22:25

08/05/2007

  • Started: 09:39, Duration: 02:29:22
  • Heart Rate: Max: 157 bpm / 89%, Avg: 138 bpm / 78%
  • In Zone: 02:02:27

In both cases 18.7 km average step: 4 min / km aprox.  I felt even better my advise, if you want to loose weight, work out your heart rate zones smart, but above all work out smart.(1) http://md.do.co.cr/articulo.asp?id=7
