Today was a great day for running, it rained last night so moving ahead, I left home early to avoid some additional heat exhaustion, the usual 14 km run was simply smooth on me today, here are the results: Started 8:14, run for 01:47:42, 1349 kcal, Heart Rate: Average 147 pps (82%) Max 158 (88%) in zone 01:41:54
Next week I will be modifying my weights program to add a little more of muscle to the arms and shoulders, not to forget the legs.

Well Yi Sin Mun is over, and there was no combat!
I was there before eight, I had my number and position in the key so I knew who would be my opponents and at what hour, so go and change and get ready. We waited until it was almost mid day, so the whole event started with almost four hours of delay, by six thirty in the evening I bail out. The only word in my head was, forgive and forget, now I’m at a high point in my condition, so for the rest of the month and for November hit the weights hard and get ready for the SEK tournament. Here is a picture of the inauguration.

It is always nice to go to an International championship, specially when you fight in an open category, you might face someone that is by far younger than you are, maybe not as strong but definitely quite faster than you, or you find you are older and faster so it is very interesting.
Saw very good fights from Panamanians and Nicaraguans I did not know we had so many rivalries in the region. I was top ready lost some muscle mass, but it is OK, I felt ready to take a guy that was younger and bigger than I am.
Show early to the inauguration, the problem was the inauguration was not ready for us all.
The whole event was programmed to start around nine in the morning, it started at midday. I was programmed to go to the Tatami and face if I really was ready or not by four, it was six thirty and they have not finish the people of category A (I was C) by six thirty I look for the contenders of my category, they were all but gone, I change myself and left.
The next championship is mid November. Since I got to this point I will work even heavier to regain some mass, and keep my speed.
Last night I started working out heavy again, yesterday was Biceps … Triceps and traps day. We will see in the progress pictures if I’m able to gain some mass, while keeping the shape.

This whole week has been working light and quick, I’m starting to feel that the workout is paying off, today I was able to do the two Katas faster with a lot of explosive energy, this is great, the next thing will be on Sunday, to see if I can move in the key to the finals.
So far, my right shoulder has not bother much, my elbows seems to be responding to the glucosamine, I stopped running this week to start accumulating energy, lots of simple starch and carbohydrates have been added to my diet.
At this point I know that I will enjoy the competition, I’m forward working out heavy again and regain some of the muscle mass I lost this past month.

Well today about the same hour I will be facing three different contenders this is going to be a lot of fun, since we will be fighting in a Jui Kumite, so it is going to be really fast! My hope is to be able to be at least for three fights.
On the other hand, I’m working hard to do my best, let us hope there are other people more ready than I am in order to have a great learning experience. I felt the anxiety last week, so now I’m more relaxed. Let us hope things go fine next Sunday.

In less than 10 days I will be facing other distinctive members of the Central America Karate family in the tournament Yi Sin Mun, this is a great honor, and very exiting.
I’m re-starting my karate after almost 30 years of inactivity; the tournament is organized by Shihan Wei Ju Yi, and it will give me the opportunity to see if my efforts are paying off or not. I believe I have trained to win, the rest will de decided in the Tatami, my hopes are to have good contenders but above all face my fears, and fight them with great joy and pride. There are going to be a lot of activities, we are going to see the best of the best of the region.
The bad thing about all the pride and joy is that I had to loose most of my muscle mass, in order to regain explosiveness (kime) and speed. After the tournament I will start to pump heavy again.
Sorry to disappoint but I don’t hold as an objective to gain 30 centimeters of biceps, or 10 centimeters of back, that will be very illusory. We will see how it goes, and may the tournament begin.
