Surprise…broken femur!
I took the weekend off and went to the lake to spend the 4th of July weekend with some friends. They had a houseboat and two speedboats for wakeboarding and all that kind of stuff. I was having a blast and found out quickly I suck at wakeboarding. Unfortunately I think it was too early after my bodybuilding show to be putting that kind of stress on my body, so in the evening while I was still trying to conquer wakeboarding I spiral fractured my right femur right in the middle of the bone. It was about a 25 minute boat ride back to the marina once they got the board off me and lugged me back into the boat. From there I took an ambulance to the top of the dam where the local Air Care helicopter was waiting for me and was taken to the hospital in Farmington, New Mexico. The crazy thing is that since my quads were so tight, they actually pulled my leg back together, overlapping my bone and making my broken leg about 5 inches shorter than my other one. For this they basically strap a brace to your hip and your ankle and tug until they are about the same length again. This is probably one of the worst pains I have ever felt! Anyways, I went into surgery the next morning, and now I have a brand new titanium rod inside the bone, and it’s screwed in at the hip and the knee. I can’t bear any weight on that leg for probably at least the next 3 weeks. So, what was supposed to be a weekend trip, is much likely going to be more than a month up in Farmington at my parents house because I can still do very few things on my own including driving. Training is pretty much halted for the moment, but once the pain stops I’m gonna try and get back in to doing upper body. The only perk is now I get a handicapped placard so whoever is driving me anywhere can park wherever they want. I’ll keep y’all posted on the progress and how the healing comes along.

Wow, that sucks. You’re the second person I’ve seen on here that has broken a bone wakeboarding.
