Happy 4th whats on your menu today?? Dieting, your not alone.

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Chicken?  oats?  Tuna?  Veggies..maybe some berries?  or nuts?   Is a hotdog really worth it… or that bun that won’t do anyone a bit of good?  I’m one week out so I won’t be having any treats today…other then fireworks.  So if its your cheat day…enjoy a brownie for me!  I’ll be making up for lost time next weekend.  If your dieting today like me..know you are not alone.

If the family is bugging you.. try just keeping your diet to yourself.. ask them to bbq some chicken breast, bring a veggie platter..  or some strawberries/blueberries.. bring some whipped topping, for them…  Hang in there.

    • 12 oz. grilled chicken breast, sliced
    • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
    • 6 scallions, chopped
    • 6 white mushrooms, sliced (replace with shitake if you’ve got them)
    • 2 cups chicken broth, from bouillon
    • 4 tablespoons natural peanut butter
    • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 1-inch cube of ginger, finely chopped
    • Spices, below

    Instructions

Stir-fry the garlic and ginger in a nonstick pan with cooking spray for a couple of minutes, add the veggies and continue stirring for a few more minutes, then add the chicken and broth.

Bring to a boil, then stir-in a dash of tumeric (not too much), a teaspoon of ground celery seed, as much chili powder as you dare, a teaspoon of coriander, a dash of cumin, and salt to taste.

Stir-in the peanut butter slowly, then serve it up.

      Serves 2

Family, Stress, Sickness.. will I make it through?

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I’m almost over that darn chest cold.  The weekend of family is over..omg..I love them, but what a pain.  "So how long are you going to do this?"  Meaning diet and exercise…um, I’ve been working out since I started gymnastics at 4 years old..so um.. lets see..so far that’s 32 years..but maybe I’ll quit next month.. duh?  Its mostly diet..and since I had to spend quality time with them my diet suffered..I think I ate 8 protein bars in 4 days to supplement my lack of protein..gag me!  I feel like a walking bloated sodium tank!   They just don’t get it at all.."so what do you eat again?"  "OH this is healthy…its only got olive oil…pasta and a little parm cheese."  sigh!!!   I don’t look GOOD like I did last week!  Boo!  And I"m 4 weeks out!  I hope my body re coops in time from the disaster area that has been the last two weeks.  I think next time I’ll just pack my food and let everyone remain seriously p*ssed off at me..whats the difference ..they weren’t happy with what I was eating anyways.  Why do they care?  I"m not forcing my food on them??

Happy Easter everyone!!

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

How many of you, like myself wish that candy, especially chocolate was not the gift of choice for every holiday!!  My mom, as much as I try…still doesn’t really get it.  She eats ‘healthier’ now, and my parents workout 5 days a week, which I’m totally proud of..however..she still gets me an easter basket every year..even if I"m on a diet..her words today.. well you can freeze it and eat it in a few weeks/months..lol  At least this time half of the basket was filled with lotions..candles..etc.. and two out of the 3 types of candy she got me were..of the ‘um’ healthier varity.. dark chocolate covered almonds..and a dark chocolate bar with cranberries and almonds, then of course she got me a giant easter bunny made of milk chocolatge.. all of this is still sitting downstairs in the basket.. and either my boyfriend will eat it..or I will take it to work and try to give it away, all of which makes me feel guilty for passing along the sugar laden unhealthy stuff to someone else.  But what should I do with it?  Throw it away? Give it to a homeless person?  I dunno.  I just wish ppl would give lotion, candles, flowers..something other then candy to the ppl they love on holidays..the BF is still asleep he got me something, lets hope its not food!! lol I’m done venting now..Happy Easter everybody!!

Another Battle won!!

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Today I went to the store and bought the stuff for my BF’s easter basket. I did fine.  I made Pasta primavera for dinner and I had boiled chicken with low sodium sauce and veggies.  I was fine.  Then I took my bf to meet his friends at Dunkin donuts..omg..just shoot me now!! I had a coffee.  still winning..then I had to drive home, past the 7-11 where they sell all kinds of tasty treats.. I felt.. helpless and as if I had already lost…I wanted… what I shouldn’t have.. I stopped, thought I’ve lost.. I walked in.. stared at the donut/twinkie shelf for 10 mins.. trying to decide what I wanted(the ppl working there must’ve thought what a nut??)  Then I decided if it was taking me this long.. I must not really want it. I walked to the cooler picked up an apple..bought it and walked out.  I WON!!  I don’t usually have these battles because usaully I don’t even stop.  I just go home where there is less temptation.  But tonight.. even though I stopped.  I won.  And hopefully that will make me even stronger next time :-)

Diet

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Ok this is generally what I’ve been eating lately…

Meal 1 5:30am 1/2 grapefruit 8 oz distilled water(before going to the gym)

Meal 2 7:30am 1/2 grapefruit 8 oz distilled water, 6 egg whites, 1 slice no sugar added whole wheat bread, w/1tbls natural peanut butter

Meal 3 9-10am 1 cup coffee or occaisionally a nonfat latte with splenda, if I’m straving I’ll have either 1 serving plain oatmeal or 10 almonds.. sometimes I’ll just have celery

Meal 4 11:45am lettuce, tomato, carrots, celery, green peppers, broccoli, 3 tbls cottage cheese, 1 nonfat yogurt 10 ounces water

Meal 5 2:30pm 1 low carb wrap with low sodium tuna(1/2 can) and tomato

Meal 6 5pm 1/2 can tuna and if hungry med sweet potato

Meal 7 7pm if hungrey..6 egg whites and veggies

snacks celery and carrots..

I drink usually a gallon of distilled water a day.. sometimes I have boiled chicken in place of the tuna .. or maybe once or twice a week beef.  Sometimes brown rice instead of the sweet potato or wrap.  On Saturdays I do an intense obstacle course workout…so that morning I add oatmeal along with my regular meal..and sometimes additional fruit.  That’s all folks.. very low sodium products..and I don’t take cheat meals.  I’ve been on this diet since January 29th..and I’ve had one cheat meal.. a south beach pizza.  Any advice..anyone?
