As I sit her tonight on the sofa I wonder if I should just quit powerlifting all together. My lower back is always tight and sore and I don’t know why. I use to be able to still do squats and it not get to out of sorts but today by squats sucked.As soon and I put the bar on my back the compression of the weight on my lower left side aches. I have tried and tried to figure it out. I have read rounding the back and bad placement are the problems but I am not doing any of those things at all. Maybe I am getting to old for the crap. LOL. It just seems anything like deadlifts, squats, stiff deadlifts and barbell rows bother my lower back to a point that is not good.My workout partner suggested I do some inversions today. So I did. Not my fav thing to do since I don’t really like hanging upside down with the blood rushing to my head but anywho it was crazy cause it seemed not to help at all. I could not lift myself up it made my back stiff to were I could not bend back up. He had to push me up. Im just in a total funk over all this and feel like giving up.

Yesterday was triceps and biceps and the first day I started XTend amino’s. I can’t wait to see how it works after I have been on it a while. Anyway yesterday was a long workout day. We alternated a bicep workout with a tricep workout. We did barbell curls first at 75lbsX6 for 3 sets, tricep pushdowns 150lbsX6 and 160X6 for a total of 3 sets, dumbell curls 35lbsx6 for 3 sets, skull crushers 50lbsx6 for three sets, hammer curls 35lbsx6 for 3 sets and behind the back pushdowns 140lbsX6 for 3 sets.Overall a nice workout day. Today and tomorrow are my days off. Time to rest up and take it easy.

Yesterday was chest and calfs. The workout went well and since I have been eating more carbs I seem to back to normal on how much weight I am using. We did barbell flat bench which my max on so far is 125lbs for 4 reps. This is not one of my strong points thats for sure. Next was dumbell incline with 45lbs pound dumbells and weighted dips with 25 pounds. Calfs were seated calfs with 170lbs and standing calf raises at 210lbs and 225lbs. Im not a big fan of seated calf raises but I do them.

Today was a shoulder day. All went well. I have been trying to eat clean for a few weeks but its killing my lift’s and I just seemed to figure that out yesterday. I have been cutting carbs back and keeping to more protein which is not a bad thing but it seems to be screwing up my workouts. I have been struggling to lift as much as I normally do and feeling run down. Last night I ate more and I could tell a big difference in how my workout and engergy levels were.

Well im doing the Max OT program and love it but right now im working through a back issue of some sorts. My leg workout was again today and it was squats, stiff deadlifts and leg curls. I have been trying to go light on deadlifts and off my normal 235 to like 135 but it still is bothersome so I did not do them at all today. Just lots of squats which can bother my back a tad and the leg curls. My last set of squats were at 235 which was awsome but im still bumbed about the back problem and having to curb my workout right now. I have no clue what I did to it but here’s hoping it gets better soon.

Today turned out to be a good leg day. I was feeling kinda not so up to doing my max weight on squats but seems as I got going it got better. I did 225 pound squats tonight. I started with a warm up of 135X6 then did 175X6, 185X6, 195X6, 205X6 twice then 225X6. my goal is to keep getting stronger and im working hard toward it.
