Never run from the Police as they just might catch you!

Over the past few months while training with Armin Scholz he keep telling me about this female bodybuilder who really impressed.  Being told this my a guy who hit’s the scales at over 300lb, I knew this girl must be in great shape.  However, I or Armin never ran into the girl at the gym until about 3 weeks ago and when I saw her I knew Armin was right.

The girl happens to be 50 year old Lorna Cavin who is also a police officer with LAPD.  Talk about being in shape Lorna has alot of muscle with great condition.  When I ask Lorna how long she had been training I got another shock.  She said that she had always wanted to compete in a fitness event so started training 1 year old but was muscular to start.  So Lorna is doing alot of circuit training to try to tone up without adding any more muscle before she steps on stage at the Emerald Cup.

The Germans take over Venice

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

jpt62001

Well, it seems like Venice is getting to be the place that alot of Europeans like to visit if they are into fitness.  Golds in Venice about 10 years ago was also full of people visiting from other countries but then it really died off a few years ago.  However, now it seems things are back up again.  For the past month I had started training with the massive German Armin Scholz and what a learning lession it’s been.  Armin has been very helpful with my training and he’s smart regarding all aspects of the sport, but most of all he’s alot of fun to just hang out with.

Another IFBB Pro who is from Lebanon but has lived in Germany for the past 16 years is Aiman Faour.  What another massive Pro at 5′9 an a offseason weight of 300lb and contest 267lb.  Aiman is also going out of his way to stop by to just say hello or see how your doing.  Maybe we Americans can learn something from being nicer to others.  Aiman has now moved making California his new home and his getting ready to step on stage in Houston.  Best of luck Aiman!

Getting ready for USA

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

jpt62001

The other day I got a call from my good friend Dave Slagel of John Scott’s Nitro supplement company.  Dave told me our friend Mike Jackson will be doing the Usa this year.  Mike e-mailed me later and told me that he does have his plans set for this show, however, what I didn’t know is that Mike’s wife Tammy won the 2007 California bodybuilding contest and will also compete this year at the USA.

Misc 070.jpg

If that wasn’t enough Mike’s sister Lisa will also be at the USA but not to watch but to compete in the fitness division, Talk about a family event!  Having met Mike and his wife at Golds Venice before this couple are not your typical bodybuilders as they both have careers and also work with the Nitro supplement line in Northern Cali.  Best of luck at the USA guys!

Here in Venice California we had a visit a few days ago from a bodybuilder im sure alot of you might remember Ada Rai of Indonesia.  It seems Ada is a busy man these days with owning 7 gyms and his own supplement line.  He puts on a show every year in July in Indonesia which they said brings crowds like the Arnold here.

Ada is still training but doesn’t compete these days, however he told me at age 37 now he might do masters when he hits 40.

The Texas Connection

TX-CONNECTION

I would like to talk about two different subjects this month. First and most importantly I would like to talk about the NPC organizations. Pose Down Magazine will proudly cover Texas shows this year. The Texas NPC organization is lead by Chairman Lee Thompson. Lee has done a wonderful job in representing this great state.

We have seen Texas grow in the past few years bringing amazing physiques with each and every show. Some important shows coming within the next few weeks in Texas are shown below. Visit Texas at: www.npctexas.org for updated contest information.

Pose Down Magazine will also cover shows in Oklahoma. Another great state with Eileen Luis as Chairperson. There have been some additions to Oklahoma this year. NPC Battle of the Bodies coming to you on May 3rd. in Tulsa. and ending a spectacular year for Oklahoma will be Red River in Norman OK. Pose Down is proud to cover these events and bring you the latest news and information on contest results. For complete information on NPC Oklahoma go to: www.npcoklahoma.org. See upcoming poster on Battle of the Bodies below:

Last but not least Pose Down will cover Louisiana. Last year Pose Down was fortunate enough to cover the Southern Cup USA. The athletes and the NPC judges representing Louisiana were nothing short of gracious and hospitable to Pose Down Magazine. Luke Tesvich, Chairman for Louisiana has also shown how great talent can evolve from within Louisiana. For latest information for NPC Louisiana go to www.labodybuilding.com.

See contest poster below for the Lee Haney Classic coming to you in May, 2008:

Second topic for April will be Pose Down’s very own author of “Classy” Fied Fitness Trish Warren. Trish has done an amazing job writing each month for our publication.

Trish Warren IFBB Pro Fitness competitor has the same beliefs and passion for this sport. I have seen Trish juggle a deadline for Pose Down while simontaniously running a full time business, training athletes and getting ready herself for upcoming competitions one of which is The New York Pro Fitness on April 12, 2008. Trish Warren is an amazing woman and athlete. For questions, ask at trishfit@yahoo.com, Trish is more than willing to help with all of your fitness needs.
