Scary Stuff!!

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Long video, but anyone who uses holistic, natural, and organic treatments instead of synthetic drugs (which I’m guessing is the VAST majority of users here) should watch this video, and check out the links I’m providing. This affects EVERY SINGLE PERSON that consumes food in the world.  It’s not just the supplement industry this time, though that will be eliminated if this is passed, it’s the ENTIRE FOOD industry that is affected.  Please watch (at least listen to) the video in the first link, then poke around the other websites I’ve linked.

Shape

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Thanks to Laurie (bull.dogz) I think I’m going to submit pics for the CL Calendar.  It’s super exciting, though the thought of doing cardio regularly again and not munching at work (though I shouldn’t be doing that anyways) seems kind of daunting.  And it gives me motivated to stay close to shape and not get too far from shape while I attempt to reshape my shape.  SO I’ve scheduled a shoot for August 10 with the photographer I worked with in April.  Yay freebie shoots!

Gaspari Review (and some more post-show ramblings)

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

It’s been 3 days of not-so-great eating, and I’m definitely missing my "normal" food LOL  It’s normal for me now anyways.  It’s weird, but comforting in that I know now why I want to compete, and I’m driven even more toward improving my physique for next year.  I know why people graze on junk all day–IT’S NOT SATISFYING.  I cannot wait to get back to my oats and eggs and protein shakes and meat and potatoes and pastas planned for my bulk.  I know that it is all totally worth it.  Now we’ll see how long it takes me to forget that again LOL  Oh, and my poor belly is all sorts of bloated from the carb/sugar binge I’ve been on, and I don’t like it LOL  I’m finally starting to flush some of the water I’ve been retaining as well, so that’s good.  I know most of the weight I gained (like 8 lbs!!) is from water retention, and I can see it in my arms and hands mostly.  My skin is sooooo dry from dehydrating for the show!  I know it will rebalance itself soon, though.

I should also blog about my experience with my Gaspari stack.  Firstly I need to thank Gaspari Nutrition for sending me the 8 weeks of PlasmaJet, SuperPump250, IntraPro (double chocolate totally rocks my socks!!!!!), CytoLean, and 4 weeks of the SizeOn.  I also want to thank Fern for choosing me to participate!  It has been super fun, and such an honor.  THANK YOU!
I’m planning on using more SizeOn in my bulk because I did retain size, but felt that it wasn’t right for me pre-contest.  I’m super excited to see how that helps me gain size in the next several weeks!

The Cytolean was awesome.  I didn’t get jittery or get crazy thermogenic flushes like I have with other fat burners.  I know the hot flashes didn’t happen because it doesn’t have any Yohimbe in it.  Still, I liked it a lot and for the last 3 weeks took 3 capsules twice daily and was fine.

SuperPump is a PERFECT NAME.  This really does give an amazing pump!  And coupled with the PlasmaJet–Look OUT!  The taste is TART but I like it a lot!

PlasmaJet.  It has kind of a nail polish remover smell to it as you pop it out of the blister pack.  It doesn’t taste like it, though, and it definitely does help get nutrients and oxygen to the muscles better (plasma expander).  I will definitely get my hands on more of this, and my husband, too, so he doesn’t steal mine ;)

IntraPro.  Double Chocolate is the way to go!  It’s thick and chocolately and delicious and I used more than I planned to and ran out early because I didn’t want any of my other protein LOL  It’s satiating, too, so you’re not hungry an hour later.  It’s because it’s timed release, and it has casein and other slow-digesting proteins, not just the whey isolate which is digested in an hour.  LOVE IT, but the tub doesn’t last very long if it’s the only protein you’re using.  Did I mention the chocolate is DELICIOUS?

I’m taking a few more days off of training to recover from the deplete.  I am anxious to get lifting again, but my calves JUST stopped hurting today lol  I’d like to give my body at least a couple more days to recover, and I’d like to get some more good food back in my system first.

Double Chocolate IntraPro

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

OMG!!  LOVE IT!!  Yes, the chocolate gods have answered my prayers!  It came today, with more PJ and SuperPump250, and since I’m out of chocolate protein I decided to give it a whirl for my pm shake tonight.  It was pure heaven!  Rich and chocolaty and chocolaty and DELICIOUS!  Two thumbs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up for Gaspari Nutrition’s Double Chocolate IntraPro!

I Want Chocolate

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I ran out of whey protein a couple nights ago.  We’re talking packing lunch for the day and realized I’m out ran out when I don’t have a full scoop left for that day.  So Thursday after I dropped my little brother back at home I stopped by the store and went to grab a chocolate tub…..and it was too light.  I see "Display" scrawled on it and it’s empty.  I looked up at the employee with a "Empty?" sad face and he about laughed.

"We’re out of chocolate."

My eyes got HUGE.  "Out of chocolate?!?  I’m out of chocolate and need more protein tonight and I’m 4.5 weeks from show and I want chocolate!!"

He laughed.  "We’re getting a shipment in tomorrow, can you wait?"

"No, I’m out of it tonight and overdue for my shake.  *exaggerated, cute pouty sigh* I guess I’ll try strawberry…."

Strawberry is better than vanilla but not as good as chocolate.

Update

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

A perfect meal-wise day at work.  That’s nearly unheard of!  I didn’t get cardio in before work because I realized when I awoke that I had no meat cooked, so I cooked, then had to shower, and hit the road to be at work on time.  And it totally would have happened had the pharmacist not called me to make a Starbucks run.  It’s ok, though, because I’m not a Starbucks fan, frappuccino or straight coffee.  Give me 7Eleven’s house or Dark Mountain Roast with a Splenda packet or a bit of sugar free syrup and I’m a happy gal.  So  those five minutes early that I gave myself to get to work on time were instead spent in line at Starbucks.  That is the beauty of going inside, however–the drive through wait is at least twice that because everyone is LAZY lol  That’s ok, joke’s on them between getting fat from their latte AND sitting on their lazy bums instead of walking the 40 ft to the counter inside.  Heaven forbid they turn off their Suburbans and Navigators for 5 minutes.  BUT as munchie-ridden as I was today, I did not give in.  LORDY was it hard, but I’m so close!!  I’m also to the point where I can feel every little change in diet, or too much sugar free gum (sadness!!) or not enough water or ANYTHING.  I’m liking it.  I just need some more quad pop and tightness in the glutes.  Ok and more overall mass.  And to NAIL the poses instead of snuggling gently into them lol.  BTW, posing vid is in my "Videos of GJ" section, feel free to comment and be brutal.  Supps going well…need to hit cardio after weights tonight.  I need to hit the tanning bed a bit more too so I’m not having to paint on a billion coats of ProTan to get dark enough.  SO MANY THINGS TO DO!

Cardio: DONE

Monday, June 9th, 2008

I once again got my cardio in for the day.  It’s really not so bad.  I can actually see why Miss Pixi loves it so much ;)   Such a rush!!!  Ok, it’s just treadmill on highest incline (12 at my apartment complex, 15 at the gym) but it gets the heart pumping and sweat flowing and fat burning so it’s all good.  I have a video of me doing posing right afterwards.  It’s uploading on YouTube now, but I will post it as soon as it’s finished!  I’m super excited, super scared, hoping to get top 10 in Open and top 3 in Novice at State.  The competition in Open class is going to be FIERCE!  Oh well.  Learn this go round, build up for next time, and kick butt then, eh?

I’m not going to do the Size On this week.  I’ve been off of it a couple days now and have leaned out, so I’m thinking it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing, it’s just not a pre-contest supp.  *shrug*  Great product though! I will be keeping up with the rest of the stack.  I’m absolutely LOVING it.  I have a LONG day at work, though, and with my training partner’s schedule and mine being opposite today, I may go for a light lift quick before work, he’s at work, I won’t be home until 10:30 tonight and he’ll be home this afternoon.  I got my cardio in, though, dangit!!  heheh

Hiccups

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I hate them.  I’ve had them since about an hour before my shift at work ended, putting the duration around 2 hours now :(   I guess I had a brief break, but they’re back.  I get them as a stress response to work.  It’s hilarious: we get busy, phone ringing off the hook, and I’m hiccupping so badly I can hardly talk to the customers :)   That’s not really what I wanted to blog about, though.

I was super bummed about not getting to go to finals last night.  I should have bought a ticket for finals while at pre-judging, but then Hubby wouldn’t have been able to come since he didn’t know yet his final appointment.  And because they sold out GA, it was to Reserved seating and at $56 for the two of us, it just wasn’t in the budget :(   Oh well, I did get to see the important part, and I know the Top 3 and about what my competition will be for July.  Now is not the time to sleep in, no matter how tired I am.  I have to keep pushing.  I’m proud of myself for getting through this morning despite the fact that I slept MISERABLY last night.  I kept picturing myself on stage, my walk out, presentation, mandatories.  And the fact that I haven’t sent in my registration form yet oops!  That is in the mailbox for the mail man tomorrow though.  Sooooo….yea.  Leg day, no SizeOn.  I am leaning out and looking noticeably better :D   But I’m testing out this week without it to see if it is making me lethargic (vs just doing so much on 1100 calories) or retaining or whatever.  I’m about out of IntraPro, which I am excited about because I’ve been mixing about 1/8 scoop of my chocolate protein in with it to make it not so vanilla-y.  I am a chocolate gal, I cannot lie ;)   Loving the SuperPump and PlasmaJet and CytoLean though.  LOVING them.  And I’m loving how after my cardio my entire body is on a bit of a pump and looks amazing :D   Speaking of cardio, tis time to run to get it over with for the day so I can relax.  Hopefully it will prove a cure to the hiccups (which are still going :\ ) as well.

Something in the Stack?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

I was talking with Jen a bit yesterday and both of our energy levels seem to be tanking.  She seems to think it’s the SizeOn, I’m not sure what it is, but I’m pretty sure it’s something Gaspari because I wasn’t this exhausted before the stack.  I really like the flavor of it, but I’m beginning to agree with Jen in thinking that it’s not helping us lean out for show.  I’m a smidge more than half tempted to continue the stack sans SizeOn, at least for a week or 2, and see what happens.

Week 1 Review

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

To review this first week on the Gaspari stack, let me start off with "There must really be something to this stuff."  I say this because health wise this has been a bit of a trying week.  I’ve been EXHAUSTED and now have a nice late-spring/early-summer sinus infection and laryngitis.  HOWEVER, I have managed to lift more than I have before on just about every exercise.  Granted I’ve been training now for about a year and a half and have gotten stronger as my form has improved, but this is like a switch has been turned on and I’m setting all sorts of records for myself.

IntraPro: I’m seriously considering getting some strawberries or something to throw in the blender with it.  It’s a good base vanilla flavor, but I’m so not a plain vanilla girl.  It’s light and fluffy and I’m forever leaving a finely dusted outline of part of my shaker, no matter how careful I am :)   It mixes beautifully because of this, though.  I bet it would be delicious in very cold milk, though protein generally doesn’t mix well in cold water.

CytoLean:  I like this because there are NO jitters, random hot flashes (no Yohimbe to blame), tweaky feelings or anything.  I will have to update my body stats tomorrow but I’m pretty sure it’s helping because I’m seeing my quads separate a bit more.  I am noticing that I’m really starting to lean out in those places that lean out first, like forearms, back and calves, so hopefully the rest of me will follow suit soon.

PlasmaJet:  I’m not lean enough to be all sorts of road map-y, but my forearms and hands have a few new veins showing through, and they’re definitely fuller when they do get pumped.  It’s a bit of a pain to pop all 10 capsules out of the blister pack–but I think I’m just being lazy ;)   Typing gets my hands all vascular and it’s really fun to watch.  I can’t wait until I start seeing my biceps follow.

SuperPump250: The taste is TART!!  But it’s growing on me in that weird way that the pain of muscle building grows on ya lol.  And "skin-tearing pumps" is SO TRUE!  I’ve tried NOShotgun and Max Muscle’s Full Blown Extreme, and yes I feel fuller and pumped with those than without an NO booster, but it’s NOTHING like this. SuperPump also tastes the best.

SizeOn:  LOVE the flavor in all it’s pineapple-instead-of-lemon glory.  I drink it during my workouts and it’s been wonderful to me.   Recovery between sets is good, energy during the sets is good.  I’m not sure that I’ll be able to put any size on before the show since I’m not eating enough calories to have extra to build new muscle, but we’ll see how this maintains (and if I do magically grow that would be AWESOME!) what I do have.  I’m very curious to try it in the off-season too and see how it helps to gain.

Overall, I’m also seeing my arms and shoulders look harder.  My legs feel harder, but are still looking too soft.  I still have 8 weeks until stage, so I think I’m on track.  I’ll find out what DK says on Thursday. I’m very happy with these products and will be enjoying the next 7 weeks of training/reviewing.
