Not Bad

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I’m pretty happy with myself.  Normally I really pack on the holiday pounds and don’t loose quite all of them.  This year I’ve lost all the previous holiday "souvenirs" and gained quite a bit of muscle.  This holiday season, I’ve only gained 3 lbs :)   That’s nothing.  It will be easily removed again and replaced with 3lbs of muscle, and then some.  I’m really proud of myself, especially considering the crap I’ve been eating at work.

Wedding Recap

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

Well, the day before the wedding and the day after were sunny.  We got about 5 inches of snow on the wedding day.  Needless to say only about half of the guests showed up because the other half couldn’t get out of their neighborhoods.  Denver is cool like that: we keep our highways clear so people can get to I-70 to get to the ski resorts, but the city itself don’t get plowed as well.  Side streets don’t get plowed until there’s a foot of snow on the streets.  Anyways, we did get married off of I-70 so if one could get out of one’s neighborhood it was clear driving.  The smaller attendance made it nice to chat with everyone, and hang out a bit.  The food was wonderful, my mom did a perfect job decorating.  The music worked.  My dog was wonderful :)

The dog part is funny, actually.  He and my brother were ring bearers. Everyone gathered in the hallway to walk down the aisle.  When Adam was gone and I could emerge from the little changing room area I was hidden away in, my dog didn’t recognize me.  He just stood there and stared until it was his turn to go.  Well, when I started my vows I got a sentence out before I started to choke up.  I was going to need a serious minute to be able to choke out the vows.  It was right then that the reality of the day hit me.  Right about then the dog recognized my voice and started his "why aren’t you paying attention to me" growl.  LOL  It was sooooooooo funny and just the ice breaker I needed to finish my vows.  The ceremony was wonderful, as was the reception.

We got a MacMini from one of our good friends.  Adam, being the Mac guy, is having fun playing with it and setting it up.  Yay plug and play transfer from his old machine.  I’m thrilled now to have a wireless network back, too.  OH! And a new digital camera.  We can do lots and lots of progress pics now!  Hehehehe….that actually makes me super happy.

The coolest part about this wedding/marriage thing is how easy it is.  There’s no worries about how to transition to married life.  We’re so compatible and on the same page about everything that it just works.  My apartment is a mess again with boxes of his stuff everywhere.  We’ll unpack what we need as we go, though, since we’re moving in 5 weeks.  Then we can get the place set up exactly how we want it with the functional space there.  For now, though, it’s just nice to be able to be in his arms all night and not have him leaving and me not being able to get back to sleep.

Well, food is here, so I’m off.  Take care and I should have pics in a couple weeks.  I will be sure to post a few!

New Year, New Life :)

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

Quickie post–we’re trying to get the computer network set up :) We have a new computer, so we’re trying to get it set up with mine.  Everything at the wedding was perfect.  It was snowy, so only about half the guests showed up.  It was nice, though, because we got to chat with everyone.  Anyways, life is good, sleep is in short order but that’s ok.  I will post more later.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy and safe New Year! :)

Oh…

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

So apparently I don’t listen very well.  Wedding day isn’t supposed to be THAT cold, but still…I want it outside *sigh*
My "good idea" of some precise grooming actually was a good idea!  It wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone had told me.  Maybe it’s my high pain tolerance.  Minus the slightly warmer than comfortable room (abnormally so) it wasn’t so bad.  And the aesthetician was hilarious hehehe I’m sure if people could hear us giggling they’d wonder what was going on!  Silly boys, crazy clients, grooming husbands, it was great.
And my hair is a bit redder than I want it.  I like the color, but it’s not what I had in mind for the wedding….We’ll see what my boss says tomorrow.  I may just fix it, though.  I’d do this one after the wedding…I wanted something more neutral.  I knew I should have grabbed the other color that caught my eye *sigh* Why do I wait for the last minute?!?

Remember to Breathe

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Yes.  And eat.  I’m kind of freaking out now.  It’s getting incredibly close.  People are forgetting it’s on a Thursday :/  Oh well.  The forecast is for snow and a high in Denver of 7.  We’ll be in the mountains, so it’ll be somewhere around 0, assuming the front doesn’t get either delayed or hurry it’s butt up so we can have a sunny day.
The front room of my apartment is liveable now.  It’s scary.  And I can see the floor in the bedroom… Perhaps a bit TMI, but if you didn’t believe me that I’m a slob–well I’ve destroyed the evidence so I can’t take a pic lol

Thanks Pixi for pointing out that in 4 days I’ll be Mrs. Trixter!  Hehehe  That actually makes me really really happy ^_^

Falling Into Place

Friday, December 21st, 2007

It is nearly scary how everything has fallen into place this past year.  It’s even scarier how well things have fallen into place this last month.  Today even, things are perfect.  We went over to the apartment complex next door to see what their rates are.  This is the place that I wanted to move into last year, except that I just barely can’t afford it on my own.  We went looking again this morning, and were amazed.  I didn’t think they’d take deposits on a move-in date of Feb 8 yet.  They do.  I didn’t think they’d have a floorplan that I liked open at that time.  They do.  In fact, they have the exact one I wanted when I went looking last year.  And, since Adam was with DirecTV within the last 2 weeks, we got application/administration fees waived for preferred employers.  So, our names are on the apartment (mine as my married name :D ) all we have to do is bring in the last 3 paystubs so they can actually screen us.  How freaking wonderful and amazing is this?!? I can’t even begin to describe how happy/excited I am right now….

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Well, this whole wedding thing is getting more real by the day.  We have our marriage license now :D   Things are actually starting to happen.  Well, they’ve been happening since August, but it didn’t really seem like it was until now.  I don’t know how to describe it other than it’s kind of blurry and exciting.  Belongings are beings merged, my apartment is looking and feeling more like a home than a really expensive storage unit.  It’s kind of scary, in a good way.

Over this past year I feel like I’ve grown so much as a person.  It’s really incredible, and it’s all because of my wonderful fiance (trixter747 for those of you who STILL haven’t made the connection ;) ).  I know that we compliment each other incredibly well.  I’ve always imagined it that way.  I can’t speak for him, but I feel like the self growth is mutual.  Physically, obviously, we’ve been able to help eachother in the gym.  I know that I wouldn’t make it to the gym, let alone at 6 am, if it wasn’t for him.

I’ll stop rambling with the gushiness now.  Just felt the need to share :)

T Minus 7 days….

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Ican’tbelievethisisfreakinghappeningit’ssoex
citingi’minatotalblurrightnowandstillhavesomuchtodo…. ok…breathe….lol Seven days from right now I will be married…actually 7 days from *right* now I will be at the Avs game with my husband…it will be wonderful :)

We got in a small-yet-effective workout yesterday morning.  A taste of that to come.  Warm up on peck deck, 20 reps, light weight, chest flies and turn around to do rear delts.  Then on to a circuit of lat pulldowns, straight arm lat pulldowns, bent rows, 15 reps each, 30 seconds rest AFTER the rows (no rest between exercises) then repeat.  That killed back, then on to arms.  Reverse curls, tricep raises, barbell curls, skull crushers, all with the EZ bar, light weight, same as before.  Nice short workout, but very effective.  My tris are feeling it today, as are my lats.  It’s funny how I notice it now, after work (which has been OMGCRAZY this week) when I have a chance to sit and breathe.  Perhaps I’ll get in a cardio session tonight.  My diet has been crap at work.  I’m definitely a stressed sweets craver.  It’s not a good thing.

Well….off to attempt to be productive and actually write my wedding vows.  I know I’m a slacker….

Finishing Out the Year

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Workouts have not been consistent these last couple of weeks, and I’m sure they’re not going to be until after the wedding.  There’s too much going on right now, and with Adam working as a massage therapist, he needs to get back in the swing of things and build that muscle memory before killing himself in the gym.  He basically only gets paid when he’s giving a massage, so he can’t be too sore to work!

I’m excited for 2008, because training is going to intensify.  There will be mass goals to be reached, as well as that postponed leg press goal!  That didn’t happen because I turned my attention to leaning out, which killed my strength.  I intend to stay leaner, of course, but not start depleting until May or so for a July show.  I’ll have to think about that later, though.  For the beginning of the year I want to start building my arms up, continue with the legs, because I’m LOVING the separation I’m really beginning to see!  I know more of that will come as I lean out more, but I know I need to build muscle so it will show through.  Also, hooray for the fat-burning power of muscle.  If that’s not incentive to build, I don’t know what is ;)
We’ve been moving his stuff over, and moving my stuff around.  I really am a slob.  It sucks.  Basically I need to go through my stuff and if I haven’t used it this year (which is most of it) I really should just donate it or something.  We’ll be moving the 2nd weekend of February, so it’s kind of weird setting his stuff up just to move it again in 6ish weeks.  I"m really happy about it.  My place really was just an expensive cat hotel/storage space, and a place for me to sleep so he didn’t have the couch all the time.  Now it’s going to be a place to live again.  It’s exciting because it feels more complete.  I really can’t wait to get our place together (since this is still "my" place and there’s no point putting his name on this lease for 6 weeks) so we can have our toy and poster walls.  Oh yes, there are many an action figure to be displayed.  What excites me most (besides company other than the feline kind) is that he encourages my funding of the Empire (Star Wars toys) and is all about letting me hang my toys up (still in the boxes, of course).  He has toys to display as well, so it’s going to be fun setting it all up.  :D

Wow again

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

So between last night and tonight (err…the night before and last night?  It is nearly 3am now….) my diet is SHOT!  No more carbs for Court for the next couple of days.  I’ll be carb cycling….yea….that’s it… lol  All I can say is that I’ve found a new favorite at Old Chicago: build your own calzone with ground beef, roasted chili peppers, and pineapple…Yummy
