Tweak, tw-tweak

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

120lb lightweight + 8.4 oz Spike Shooter + 2 Redline Capsules - any sort of stomach contents to absorb previous ingredients (the simple sugars from continental breakfast 3 hours earlier were gone, but the 2 cups coffee might have had some lingering caffeine) = tweaky thermogenic tweakiness.  And I did this Saturday while sitting through a meeting with a florist, with my mother, and having to drive her there and home.  Yea…bad idea.  I had an amazing workout later, though!  Remind me not to do that again, at least on an empty stomach.

It Hurts So Good

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

First off, if you weren’t following Olympia coverage–shame on you!! And spoiler to follow…

Congrats to Jay Cutler on his Olympia win, Victor Martinez on his second place finish.  I thought Dennis should have been in the top 3, but I’m not a judge.

Anyways, back to the gym tonight after about a week off.  Double workout: heavy chest and light arms.  IT FELT SO GOOD TO BE BACK!!  I got good squeezes in my arms and felt the pop-pop-pop of the muscles filling up….it was beautiful!  And I’m quite proud of myself for not cheating on chest and using my arms or shoulders.  I love getting that isolation–it means I’m getting stronger.  I’m consistently lifting about 50% of Adam, and that makes me incredibly happy!  Next goal will be 60%….  Tomorrow is back day, negatives…meh.  I was pretty much giddy to be back to a solid workout, back in the gym. Lots of laughter, but serious pumping going on.  This puts me back on track, and definitely motivates me to push hard for my end of November goals and December wedding.

Nutrition Help

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

So for my nutrition class we have to "fix" someone’s diet to goal calories, fat, carbs (95-105% of goal), fiber (95-125%), protein (can be up to 150% of goal).  Living the bodybuilding lifestyle I thought this would be no problem.  I forget, though, that I’m just a newbie to this, and it’s really not all that easy, working with the food they’re already eating.  I do have the freedom to add/delete foods, but not to completely re-work the diet.

Here’s where I’m at:
Total Calories: 94%
Fat: 92%
Carbs: 88%
Protein: 151%
Fiber: 88%

So my question to all of you is this: What are some good high fiber, high carb, low protein foods?  I’ll be searching for myself, but if anyone knows any off the top of your head I’d love you forever!  Thankies!!

Another Bite by the Photo Bug

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Today has been fairly productive, amazingly.  I didn’t get to the gym this morning as I had planned, but I haden’t planned on getting the photo bug last night and I stayed up later than I intended taking pics, as you all can see.  I have my lab write up almost finished for Monday, which is incredible!  I have lots to do for wedding planning this weekend, so I have to knock out my homework during the week.

I also met Jamie M today on campus.  It was pretty cool to meet one of my online friends in real life.  Thanks for the meeting Jamie!!  Congrats, and good luck with everything :)

“New Pic”

Monday, September 24th, 2007

My fiance sent me that "progress pic" from when I moved into my apartment this year.  I used to LOVE Oreos, and would eat them all the time.  It’s why I was fat.  Ice cream and Oreos, mostly blended heh.  I still like them on occasion.  What got me was how my face looks.  Not only do I look exhausted (I’m sure I was, but all of my pics from pre-clean diet days look like that) but I’ve gotten comments from patients at work that I’ve slimmed down in my face, and seeing that pic I know I have!  It’s such a great feeling!

Wow…

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/weik4.htm  Adam sent me this, and I’m sure it’s old news to most, but I have to share.  Some of the stupidest questions in the forums.  It’s an amusing read (much like celebrity gossip!)

Cramming

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

It’s officially begun.  I’m behind in chem (even though I’ve taken it once before…) and cramming for the first test.  Cut the workout short after one set and one crappy ass negative chin up (focusing on letting gravity pull me down) because I was totally stressing and low on fuel.  I need to get back to work, but I felt soo bad for cutting the workout short, especially after seeing a t-bar row!!  It made me really happy for some odd reason, lol  Yes, we were at a different gym again.  Went to another one last night, too.  It’s kind of odd, but refreshing, but not quite right, ya know?  My regular gym is like home.  The other ones are like going to stay at a relative’s house–familiar, comfortable, but not quite right.

I’m debating going to sleep now and re-reading stuff tomorrow morning before class or trying to do some more tonight…eh.  maybe i’ll fall asleep studying and it will be really refreshing.

Oh The Excitement!!!

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Early last week my boss helped me make a to-do list for my wedding, which is closing in on 92 days away.  Last weekend I had intended on crossing at least one thing off, which didn’t happen.  Today, something got crossed off.

What we were going to do post-ceremony was up for debate, since we’re not going to go anywhere for the honeymoon until March, over my spring break.  Thoughts of going somewhere downtown were thrown about, but nothing materialized.

Today at work, the pharmacist mentioned the first home hockey game against Detroit (her hometown) was December 27.  Coincidentally, that’s my wedding day.  Coincidentally, game is at 7pm (since it’s a Thursday).  Coincidentally, we only have the wedding hall until 4:30pm.  (Can you guess what’s coming next???) SOOOO…. We’ll get checked into the hotel downtown (still not quite sure which one, and that will be only for us to know so noone comes to sabotague it ;) ) then hit up the game!!!! :D :D :D :D I’m soooooooooooo excited!!  And I’m betting that if we go in tux/gown we’ll get on TV!! And hopefully ticket upgrades.  THAT would rock!  Anyways, just had to share.

Shoulders tonight….Ouchie. Didn’t hit medial delts as much as I wanted to, but that’s not a big deal.  Thought maybe I should throw in a workout.  It was light shoulders, workout C for anyone who is following along.

Why? Because I like it!!!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Ok, not really.  Work, anyways.  I do like working out.  In fact, if I could make a living of working out, I would.  And I can, should I choose to get certified as a personal trainer (or a modeling gig?).  And I just might, but not yet.  Right now, financially anyways, I can’t make that transition.  And financially I am motivated to work the double shifts that I’ve been so crazy to take the last couple of weeks.  Why do I do it?  Because I care to damn freaking much about making life easier for me, my boss, and the couple other managers I like at different stores.  Oh, and I like the pay….

Speaking of pay, October is going to ROCK!  First off, I get my annual raise in October.  It’s only $0.50/hour, but that adds up.  Secondly, they’re changing the bonus structure.  Not only am I going to get last year’s bonus (probably not until November, but close enough…) but starting in October they’re going to give us mini bonuses on each paycheck.  Basically they’re splitting up the bonus to be paid biweekly instead of annually.  It’s based off of our numbers, but since my store is growing, that means it should be nice.  Not sure what it is going to be, but even if it’s an extra $10 a check, that’s two meals!  Secondly, there’s a market adjustment being made, so that’s an extra quarter/hour.  That’s $0.75/hour increase for those of you not keeping track.  Thirdly, based on the store’s average number of prescriptions done there’s an extra hourly "bonus" paid.  For my store that’s ANOTHER $0.75/hour.  Busier stores get more money/hour.  I’ll be up $1.50/hour!!  I know, for those of you on salaries it doesn’t seem like much, but for starving college student living on her own it’s huge.  It actually means about $100 more a paycheck.  This is the best part, though.  If I go to a busier store (which is possible if my boss and I take the new store opening next year….) my pay gets adjusted accordingly.  I don’t have to transfer, just work a shift at a busier store, and I get that store’s hourly bonus.  HOW FRIGGIN COOL IS THAT?!?  The downfall, though, means I’m going to be picking up shifts at busier stores for more pay.  Because I’m greedy like that.  I want toys.  Shiny ones that purr, and squishy ones that make me/others purr lol  (after, of course, bills are paid and necessities taken care of)  I also think that was corporate’s dirty plan to capitalize on the greediness of starving college student techs and get more help at busier stores.  *shrug* As long as I’m getting something out of it…

400 Fleeting…But Quads on Fire!!

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Instead of getting closer to 400lb leg press, I keep getting further away.  Tonight 270 for 2 reps and I was done.  I think I may have figured it out: no creatine.  Which makes me think, "if I did it while on creatine, but not off, was it really me pressing that or the creatine?"  Owie, though, my quads are on fire right now, and I think I may actually be tired enough to get some rest tonight.
