Evening

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Chest tonight.  Felt really good, minus NOShotgun pump.  Still got a really good burn.  Hooray for whiners in class providing motivation/drive to squeeze out the last set.  Back tomorrow AM since I have work and another paper to write tomorrow night for Wednesday morning.  Arms Wednesday night since I don’t have my last class.  Now, however, it is time to get more than 5 hours of sleep.

Mondays

Monday, April 30th, 2007

After 4 hours of sleep, I ignored my alarms and didn’t hear the wake-up text, so chest drop sets are postponed until this evening after class.  Yay finals week and research papers to write!  I have one more due this week (finish probably tomorrow night since it is due Wednesday morning) and I have one to write before next monday, but that one won’t be terribly difficult to write.  I absolutely cannot wait for this semester to be over, because I will officially be half-way finished with my degree, and also for the intensity increase in my workouts!

Thursday update

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Yesterday was arms done as drop sets.  Yesterday evening was shoulder and calves drop sets.  Honestly, it was the best workout I’ve had in a while.  It’s definitely time to switch things up.  This is working, as it’s the same exercises just done at a faster pace.  I think I like it.  My calves still feel funny this morning, and I woke up last night with my arms totally numb (I think I sleep with them over my head…) and thinking "wow that was a good workout…" Now it’s off to a 10 hour shift at work, on my feet, going back and forth and back and forth across the pharmacy.  I should get a pedometer and see just how far I walk in a day at work, just for grins.

Arm dropsets

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Body needed a good shock today because yesterday was no good.  The answer was found in dropsets.  Ten reps, drop weight, 10 seconds rest, repeat.  It was painfully nice.  The workout was finished in an hour, which I really liked.  Tomorrow is an off day, which will be nice, then on to dropsets for leg day on Friday.

On another note, I’m going in for a consultation on Tuesday for augmentation.  It’s not the process that scares me (pain goes away relatively quickly and I’m sure I’ve survived worse pain) it’s paying for it.  I have a second one on May 10.   Just thought I’d share.

Monday

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Yesterday was a cheat day.  I thought it wasn’t going to be so bad after the couple slices of pizza and beer at Old Chicago.  Then came the birthday cookie for my brother.  Then came the cookie at lunch with the boyfriend while on a protein run.  Then came the BBQ.  That started out well enough, trout and burger (just the patty, not the bun).  Then came the chocolate cake.  Last night I felt ok, then came 5am.  My three alarms came and went, and when the text message from the boyfriend finally came, I dragged myself out of bed and got ready.

At the gym wasn’t so bad, considering I did bump my weights on incline smith press, and on chest press machine.  It didn’t feel great, though.  And low cross cable flies didn’t happen.  Neither one of us felt like being at the gym this morning, and it wouldn’t have been beneficial to be there.  I did get a good pump going, so I suppose all is not lost.

Moral of the story: chocolate cake bad.

Sunday reflections…

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

It’s been a pretty good week.  Coming up on the home stretch of this routine before starting to cut for the summer (that’s what I started doing here, I know, but then I changed it for more strength gains–which worked).  I’m quite excited about that.  Hopefully soon my legs will start coming along as nicely as my arms/back are.  It was great that my dad noticed them today :D   It’s a huge confidence boost and good motivation to keep the results coming.

Legs!!!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

120lbs leg press (more than I weigh :D ) today!!!  Horribly excited.  And I’m able to do most of a pull up and chin up.  I just need to refine the final squeeze and I’ve got it.  The excitement and pride in myself is indescribable.  Yay me!

Week 2 of lifting heavy

Monday, April 16th, 2007

So I finished week 1 of heavy lifting fairly well, shoulders burning by the end.  Then I played hockey on Sunday.  I haven’t played a hockey game in 5 years.  Not only that, but the team has 2 lines, so 3 minute shifts for all.  Oh! And the adult league plays an extra period.  All-in-all, though, it was great.  I really felt it after my first shift, but adrenaline and supps kicked in and all was well.  Needless to say, after the hour and a half drive home my shoulders were stiff.  Thank goodness for a massage therapist boyfriend.

Today’s workout went really well.  One of the boyfriend’s friends joined us, and it was great to show him up on low cable cross-flies.  I was super pumped, too, thanks to NOShotgun.  I definately need some apple juice to mix that in.  It smells deceivingly good too.  Oh well.  Welcome to the world of sports supplements, I suppose.  Weights were upped again all around, and I’m really excited about being able to see pec defintion.  Hooray cleavage!!

100lbs!!!!!!

Friday, April 13th, 2007

I so hit 100lbs on leg press and hack squats!!!  I am soooooo proud of myself!!  Goal for next week is body weight, which shouldn’t be difficult, seeing as I’m making huge gains.  I’m training like my boyfriend now, heavier weight and lower reps, and I really like that.  This is huge, because at the beginning of this year I could barely do machine weight.
