All you Coloradans! Come to the Fitness Fiesta this Saturday. I’ll be helping work this show (my first ever to help run, though I’ve competed in 2) so please come say hi ^_^

This flu season has been kick-started by the fear mongering media and the "swine flu." We’ve already started giving flu shots at work. Honestly, the best way to stay healthy (from the flu, from bronchitis, from type 2 diabetes, from obesity, etc) is to eat a balanced diet of whole foods, exercise regularly, drink LOTS of water (1/2 ounce for every lb of body weight), WASH YOUR HANDS, DON’T COUGH/SNEEZE ON OTHER PEOPLE, AND IF YOU’RE SICK STAY HOME FROM WORK.
And don’t get crazy about vaccinations. Rushed vaccinations are DEADLY. Think back to (or, better yet, RESEARCH) the flu of 1976 and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. And check out this blog, while you’re at it

Where has the time gone?!? It seems like just a few short weeks ago I had summoned the courage to ask Rita "Rae of Sunshine" to coach me for this show. BOY AM I GLAD I DID She is amazing, knows her stuff, is incredibly inspirational, super sweet….I could go on and on and on and on… Anyways, I am SO thankful to have her in my life and as my coach and I am absolutely AMAZED at what I have accomplished with her tutelage. Come what may next Saturday, I am happy. I am happy with my physique, and most of all happy with myself. It has been a journey made much easier with her guidance. And I made a friend at the end of last year who has proven to be another angel Seriously, without these two beautiful ladies I would not be as content and semi-sane as I am now. YAAAAAAAAAAY!
I realized Friday that show was supposed to be today and I was like "huh….I’d be happy, but I’m glad I have 1 more week " So here goes this last week! Photo shoot tomorrow, 3 more workouts, tan, then time to show off my hard work!!!

Two more weeks!!! I’m so excited. It’s been such an incredible journey this year. It’s getting TOUGH AS HECK right now, but this is where the competitors start to weed themselves out/into placings. This is where the tough get going, where the winners pull ahead. Gotta stick with the Top 5 pack! Gotta keep pushing through…2 weeks to stage! Even fewer workouts!
I got my suit back. I can’t wait to see it on stage, me all tanned and done up all girly-like LOL It’s going to be fun. There’s a lot to be proud of this year, and a lot has been learned to improve upon for next time. It’s all about learning and being better and better each time. And staying lean in the "off" season so that dieting down for the next round isn’t quite as daunting…

Saturday was 8 weeks out. I’m excited, looking better than I did this time out last year. I’m still reflective white, though, so I’m not posting any pics until I get a tan LOL I might not even post them until after show and I put together a progress collage…that sounds kind of fun, actually
Life is crazy… Summer school starts tomorrow, so I’m not online much between school last semester, prep, work, home…wait, what’s home? LOL I realized that I hardly ever eat a meal at home any more–and even then it’s out of the Gladware container that it has been pre-portioned into and stuck in the fridge. It’s ok, though. It’s easy to eat, and making food easy is what it’s all about. I think that’s why so many people eat like crap–you don’t even have to get out of your car and can get a "meal." So I spend a good chunk of my Sundays prepping food for the week, but it takes me 2 minutes to grab the containers out of the fridge in the morning and throw them in the lunchbox before dashing out the door. Yes, I have to double/triple check that I’ve grabbed the correct containers, and shakes and what-not, but it’s really not bad. And it makes eating throughout the day easier too because I don’t have to think about what sounds good, what’s not expensive, what’s close, etc.
Sorry for that bit of rambling…. tis the season!

I’m getting excited. I’ve decided that I’m going to enjoy this prep, enjoy the journey, and then start kicking my BUTT to put on some good size this "off-season."

Yesterday was 13 weeks out. I’m seeing progress, and feel that I’m starting off prep season (aka 12 weeks out) much better prepared than last year. Granted, I’ve been "dieting" for a few weeks now, I have a lot more guidance this time around (from actually having hired a trainer this year), a lot more friends in the same boat as me…it’s going to be great. I just need to stay on myself to get ‘er done!
Last week I was TIRED all week..going to blame the snow. It’s sunny today and supposed to be BEAUTIFUL this week. I’m feeling better today, going to cook more for the week today, too. Started off the morning well–now to keep this momentum up for the next 13 weeks I will do it.

Hey all! I know it’s been a long while–man life gets busy with work, school, and a show in 13 weeks! Lifts have been going well. I have a LOT of work to do yet, but I have time and LOTS of local support and an entirely different mindset than last year so I know I will come in with better conditioning–can’t wait! Who knows about placing…Yes, I’d love to get top 5, but who knows. That can’t be controlled. The only thing I have control of is how I lift, making my cardio, and what I put in my mouth. Doing everything my trainer says will get me in the best condition I’ve ever been in, and THAT is what I’m looking forward to the most Then I have my work cut out for me this "off season" (bulking season? I’m not sure what to call it, since "off season" makes me think of doing nothing, and that’s NOT what I want to do) because I wasn’t going to compete next year and just focus on putting on size, but there are rumors of a pro/am in Denver next year…I’d like to compete in a bigger show on my home turf, but I also want to be competitive, so who knows. Right now I have July to worry about, then bust my butt after that, and see what happens, I guess.
Happy Easter to you all! I hope you all have a great one!
