Cardio and lifting in the same day??

Does anyone else do cardio and lift on the same days during the week. If so, how do you split it up. I am trying to step up my game, but not lose more muscle in the process. If anyone could post a typical week other than the Beginning BFL 101 Style, I would much appreciate it. I have that down pat, but I am ready to move on. I want to hear your successes and failures with doing more/too much! Thanks for all your help.

  1. TDetroit Says:

    yes
what i do is hit 3 min of cardio, then do two excercises of lifting
    then back to the cardio

it keeps the heart rate up while lifting, so you burn fat while lifting, but you don’t lose the muscle mass from doing the cardio

    2 things:
-stay off the high impact machines like treadmil, use the arc trainer or eliptical or rower

-tell the trainer on duty what you want to do, and ask him to set you up on a machine so you can get your heart rate to the place where you are burning fat not sugar. you can increase the resistance on the machines to wear you out in 3 min. I use the arc trainer at a rsistance of 45 (I started at 40) and I try to get the cal burn measurement to 50-58 calories for the three minutes. when I come off the machine, I am tired, but the heart rate is not tooooo high to whip me, I still have it in me to go do hammer curls and farmer walks alternating with no rest break. by that time the heart rate has come down, so it’s back to the machine

I hope I explained it clearly. PM for more discussion
