When I’m not tired I have an unhealthy love of food. When I’m exhausted I have no control over my desire for food. I will eat anything and everything. For the last…what’s it been now…month already?…I’ve been exhausted. Today is the first day I feel like I’ve finally gotten on top of my work. It started with working until 2am and since then I couldn’t catch up! I’d get a night’s break - an opportunity to go to bed at a normal hour - and then it’d be a week of late nights and early mornings again!

I’ve come out of this bad patch without any gym time and feeling positively frumpy, well padded and whale-like. I’ve eaten the worst kinds of food - the convenient, ready made or fast-food kind - and I feel terrible for it.

It’s not all bad I suppose. I did learn something. I’ve realized that I have no control of what I put in my mouth when I’m over tired and that my eating habits on a normal day are ghastly.

I don’t eat my food. I don’t even appreciate it - I shovel it into my mouth, masticate it three of four times to get it into position and swallow that way I can hurry it up and shovel more in…

When did I lose that joy of taste? When did I last appreciate the flavours, textures and aromas of food? When last did I eat something made with care, with nourishment, quality and enjoyment in mind?

It’s time I took cognisence of what I use as fuel and how I perform a fill-up.

It’s amazing how fast the strength drains out of muscle if you don’t keep up the training! I’ve allowed myself some time off due to the marriage & honeymoon but started training this morning again. I was shocked!

I knew after not training I’d have to start on a lesser workout to get into the swing of things again, but I was really surprised at how I struggled even though I’d chosen weights lower than what I’d been doing!

It’s a good lesson in consistancy. It’s not how much you can pick up in one go - it’s the constant and long term work that really pays off!

Tuesday I start gym and my proper eating program again. This silly season I’m going to be very good. I’ll watch my portions and what I put into my body. I was doing so well! Ah well no regrets - I wouldn’t have done it differently.

I also cheated a little - that tattoo I wanted? Well I’ve got the line work done. My mother’s going to kill me! Yes, yes I’m this old and she’s a good two heads shorter’n me but her hands are like leather and well practiced. She’s going to kill me.

Ciao for now.

I’ve avoided touching my eyes - the most suseptable part of the body for absorbing nasty cold germs and yet I still have the sniffles!

There is some consolation and I put this down to eating healthy and working out. I don’t have the sniffles anywhere as badly as any of my colleagues do.

Looking forward to gym soon again!

I’m tentatively trying out the "Burning fat on a Budget" nutrition experience. Unfortunately I can only go so far with this plan for now, however it seems to be working.

I’ve been stuck in a weight rut of about 78kg for a few months now. I’ve definately been building muscle and slowly putting on the weight I’ve lost with such hard work. I’ll re-itterate that the scale is merely confirming change and my end aim is to look good i.e. lose a considerable amount of body fat and tightened up my muscles!

The only thing I’ve changed again is diet. I’ve included more boiled eggs and yogurt plus really watching those carb intakes. It seems to have shaken something loose somewhere because this morning my weight was 77.8kg. WOW!

The diet also recommends Protein shakes (high in protein) which is expensive here! The other ingredients are pretty pricy too! This is a beef-eating country and therefore beef is less expensive than chicken most of the time! Problem is our beef is fatty. This lean lifestyle has a foothold here, but only a foothold. Very few are ardently lean seekers.

I battle on.

Ciao for now.
